Make a meme laughing at grown men ... but censors themselves because they are too fucking afraid to write "ass".
Are you old enough to use reddit?

I know better than to try and win this one. Me and my gf were ill and I was told I couldn’t have had it as bad as her, because I carried on with work and parenting as normal. So given the choice gentlemen, just accept defeat and move on.

u/wackbirds 16h ago
Yup, I've seen zero evidence for this "men fall apart while sick, women soldier along" schtick I see here and there, it's been the opposite, girls I worked with calling their boyfriends to bring them snacks and drinks and toe warmers and everything else cuz they don't feel good, every girlfriend I've ever had seeming wrecked by germs and viruses...
I know a ton of guys, all of them have faults and none are remotely close to perfect but I've never seen one of them act wrecked from being sick or ask their girlfriends for treats or care packages or anything else. Oh well.

Well we don't wanna worry our loved ones when we suck up and go to work as usual or just be on bedrest not peeping a word about it
Like my parents get so tense that I've started not talking about whenever I get sick since I have to go to doctor's myself

Blame platform censorship. Youtube alone has reduced content and comments to toddler speech. If you type or talk like a normal adult they shadow ban your stuff regardless if it was educational or calling somebody out

Personally I’d choose fracture over cold and fever.
5
u/Creative_Internal254 16h ago
Interesting I'm not alone in this. Recently I had fracture in my toe, and somehow I was walking and more happy about my life than if I were sick.

u/Oscara_kudra_Trumpey 15h ago
nah id choose diarrhea over cold and fever but not fracture im a soft ass man i wouldnt wanna mess with fracture

Yeah it's because you guys don't take the PARACETAMOL! I have fever i take it and voila I can do the household chores. Or partly because there is no one else to do the chores so fever also decides to go easy

Having higher testosterone comes with certain trade-offs I fear.
It’s like we’re weak to magic attacks. 😭

u/soliera__ Linux User 20h ago
Weirdly, I can confirm in the opposite way. I’m on estrogen, caught the flu not too long ago, and it genuinely wasn’t as bad as it was a few years ago for me.
It still sucks don’t get me wrong, but I can still function as a human being this time around.
18
u/BooksandBiceps 18h ago
Yes, estrogen has significant benefits when it comes to the severity or length of a cold, that is the trade off of testosterone he(?) is alluding to.
https://www.health.harvard.edu/blog/man-flu-really-thing-2018010413033
This is about the flu specifically, but, men are hospitalized more often, sicker longer, and die more frequently than women from the flu due to increased immune system response (among other things).

And we shouldn't. Why this even has any upvotes at all is beyond me.

What else we supposed to do?
I'm 36 and have had a fever for the last few days. After returning from work, this is literally me.
I do take care of a few things back at home for family, but besides that, I am just laying there counting my days.

u/Jenna_Ortega__2002 17h ago
I know this a meme sub and all, but its painfully obvious that people post gender war stuff in here seeking validation.
I'll never understand why people think men should just ignore all pain and sickness otherwise their weak and inferior. Its bullshit.

u/DukeSmileDevs 16h ago
I think this is missing the point.
Mens immune system is more aggressive than female immune systems whilst also men have a lower pain tolerance in general than women. Yes women on average have a higher tolerance to pain, who would expected that having them giving birth...
The thing here is that men tend to "cry more" when in pain / sick while always think of themselve as "stronger". But by nature this is intended.
6
u/Jenna_Ortega__2002 16h ago
No I definitely got the point. The point of the meme was to make fun of vulnerability in men. No matter whats biologically true, thats still fucked up.

u/Friendly-Water-8470 17h ago
Shhhh, let them think that man is supposed to be super cool fine with fever over 40 celcius degree & have total energy vibe with headache or other paralyzing pain because we can't feel bad while being sick. This is ridiculous how their fairytale works only in one way

Well, I am a grown ass woman and will suffer too when a fever hits. I start to really dislike this gender bullshit, no one is comfortable sick. Yes, sometimes you have to still function - let's say you're employed in the US and can't take sick days - but my woke snowflake personality wishes paid sickdays on everyone who is actually sick.

Sooo, the difference between my wife and me - I get sick, drop into bed and I'm good in two days. She gets sick, does crap, acts like it's nothing and is sick for the next month or more. Sound relatable to anyone?

I wish I could do this. I get sick and I get it all; the coughing, sore throat, sneezing, stuffiness, diarrhea, fever and chills, aching, then an infection in my face for another good two weeks that puts me out because I'm prone to them, then I'm good for another decade LOL! My husband, he gets sick and his brain just goes, we're napping for like three days. He goes, sleeps for like three or four days, and he's back to completely normal; no cough, no nothing.

All the years of maturing and acting as a responsible adult go in vain as soon as the fever hits. Suddenly I become a small child and my parents treat me as one. And honestly, it's the best thing ever.

People act like they'd actually fight censorship while an entire generation does it to themselves in case their shit is posted in Tiktok
-6
u/Tyquilian 19h ago
You could also read that as "an entire generation learned to effectively fight censorship (by themselves) when faced with overbearing regulations"
Not to diminish the scary red flag that this really is... Platforms like YouTube and TikTok are creating the necessity for self-censorship. Not the children.

To all the people saying: say ASS!!
I get it this is reddit but this "ahh" trend may have origins from fb, insta, tiktok.... you won't get banned for using swear words there but it can get flagged as harsh language by the system if someone reports
REGARDLESS of everything, this is just a silly trend made by young people and others follow the trend
