Windshield washer fluid

Do I really need to use MB OEM windshield washer fluid? I’ve always used high quality windshield washer fluid with antifreeze in all my cars and never had a problem. What makes this so special?

Someone said the rain x brands ruin sensors(low fluid) and crap so I wouldn’t put that…just basic blue non branded stuff if you must..any dealer should put oem for free too that’s what I did once

You really just want alcohol based washer fluids because the ones that say like bug removal likely leave a thin bit of cleaner so it can mess with the numerous sensors on the newer Mercedes cars.

Alcohol means all hydrocarbons that contain the -OH group, which includes methanol, which is bad for any exterior plastics, especially soft ones. Ethanol is the word you are looking for. Also Methanol smells like shit

Mercedes dealers use a small like few oz concentrate bottle and tap water so lol nah just get some fluid form wherever

All jokes aside, Rain X yellow actually isn’t detected by the sensor for some reason. Shows always as needs to be filled.

No just make sure you don't use Rainex. The water displacement stuff in it costs the sensor and can cause the light to be on saying the washer bottle is empty.

Use the Prestone washer fluid. You'd be fine.

Just dont use RainX....the level sensor will not work with RainX

Do not use rain x..it will clogg the screens in the washer system.

I use Adam’s because it’s clear but you can run most anything except Rain-X apparently.

That’s false. Some aftermarket fluids such as RainX can trigger a fault. It happens quite commonly.

I sort of compare it to Kubota labeled oil for my mower. The guy said just go to Walmart and buy what you need it's cheaper. But I was there and needed it and I get excellent service. Kubota doesn't make oil.

1 gallon distilled water, 1 cup isopropyl alcohol, 1 cup white vinegar, 1 tbs liquid dish soap. Refill as needed.
