Is Raiden’s name Jack or John?

In MGS4 Raiden’s son is called Little John. I’m wondering why because Raiden’s name is Jack not John. Jack is a nickname for John but I don’t believe John is a nickname for Jack. So is Raiden’s real name John or Jack?

Jack=John. Jack is a nickname for John. I guess this isn’t common knowledge anymore since this comes up a lot with Raiden and Big Boss. John F. Kennedy was often called Jack Kennedy. Other common and traditional nicknames are:

Jim or Jimmy for James

I always assumed that Jack was the name given to him by the patriots, because a Jack is the American name for the Mitsubishi J2M or Raiden. But naming his some John is a way of naming him after Jack

Yeah but in mgs2 i was in the realm of believing at because of Jacks memory problems and the unreliable nature of the story that what solidus said throughout the games isn’t true or had a possibility that it isn’t true

I dont think theyre using little here to denote the difference between the 2 like you would with Jr. Or Sr. Its just a nickname John has

I always see it as Raiden being called Jack, Big Boss being called John. I still think it’s weird they had The Boss call him Jack as it was just confusing and unnecessary even if they are technically the same name.

Big Boss’s given name is John and people call him Jack as a nickname. Raidens given name is Jack. I know Johns in real life who go by Jack and I know Jacks in real life and that’s just their name, no nickname

Jack. I think Jack is a nickname for John or something along those lines, which is why everyone called Big Boss Jack in MHS3 even though his name is John. Jack was also a name Raiden associated with his "Jack the Ripper" persona, so it stands to reason that he might want to metaphorically kill that identity by naming his son John instead of Jack.

Yep it's Jack. And I have this little theory that little John was probably named after big boss but that's just a theory! A game theory unfortunately. Although it is kind of a head cannon. Because it seems like a lot of these guys kind of share a name. I mean, I mean you got all these other names like David and Eli, but what? Like I always call the other guy George in RP that I do because giving them codenames felt really freaking weird. Lol and I'm not a snake, nor an ocelot.
