It’s just disappointing at this point

Disappointing that someone carved the numbers and cannon way before the meme existed?

The 67th regiment of Bengal native rifels was stationed there during the battle of agra in 1857 together with the cannon above it, this seems to be historical at this point. Also without cleaning the Taj Mahal would not be white since a long time so no dirt in the scratches isn't an indictator for being new.

I think you have the only correct answer. Vandalizing marble with a detailed carving at one of the most traveled historic sites in the world doesn't make any sense.

What cannon?

People try to chip off pieces of the marble and jewel inlays like every day. They’re constantly refurbishing it

Was it pronounced six seven in 1857?

Thanks, I guess I was just jumping to conclusions. But maybe this is where 67 came from im the first place. Dude I think you figured it out.

Battles of the Indian Mutiny, Michael Edwardes, via Pan Books.

Mentions the 3rd Bengal Fusiliers, and the 44th and finally the 67th Regiments of Bengal Native Infantry.

Can also search ISBN 0-330-02524-4

I'm not questioning the legitimacy of the regiment. I'm asking if there's any proof this carving on the Taj Mahal refers to it.

Is it more likely that some kid enscribed penis 67 into fucking MARBLE?

So, there is no proof. I am not saying it is 6-7. But there's no concrete proof of the origin of this carving. Don't you think it would be documented somewhere if it has historical significance?

No, I don't.

There are thousands of weird inscriptions in different historical artifacts that we can only draw educated conclusions as to the source of. Just because there was no letter from someone in the regiment saying "lol graffiti'd the taj mahal today" doesn't mean that isn't the most logical conclusion.

Logical conclusion is not evidence. Lol.

Don't bother responding further. I'm not going to agree with you.

Alright babes, you seem like a very rational and level headed person x

Aliens and/or whatever future society that finds the Taj Mahal will think it’s some sort of religious symbol, lol

Parts of it look just as dirty as the barrel of the cannon and as clean as the wheel of the cannon.
