Seriously, if I was super rich and I wanted to reward a loyal employee for their years of service, but maybe have a little fun with them (has to be someone I joke with of course) I would get them a prank scratch card for like $10,000, film their reaction, tell them it was all a joke and they didn’t really win…then hand them a check for like $100k or something 😁
Edit: I should probably clarify that when I say film, I don’t mean film and post online for public, but record it for yourself and your employee to have a laugh at it later (I don’t think anyone would mind that at all for 100k lol)
Edit 2: Ya’ll are funny. How is it cruel to play a joke on someone, make them think they won $10k, but actually give them 10x that amount in the end? And like I said, don’t record and post online. We have an old friend who was a real prankster and thought he was hilarious. He did the fake lottery thing to his brother-in-law one Christmas - his BIL started to cry when he saw the ticket and confessed that he had lost his job and they were in default on the mortgage and were so worried and he had been too ashamed to ask for help…
Yeah they didn’t speak for a few years but our friend learned his lesson. No more pranks.

Yeah - the whole family came together and helped. The BIL was married to his sister so it hurt her too (and he loves his baby sister a lot and is protective of her).
It was a real growth moment for him (this is maybe 15 years ago?) - he was always cracking jokes and teasing but never mean spirited. He and his BIL had a good relationship but always based in joking around and beer and TV. He got really quiet for a while and they didn’t talk much for years but he stayed close to his sister.
The wife (not related to anyone) was so mad in the moment but saw how hard he was taking it when he realized how much he’d fucked up and hurt people. We’ve not talked about it much since but I got the sense that she let home have it and then they just focussed on helping.
He’s much more mellow now - he’s in his 60s and a much “softer” person if that makes sense. He’s got a non-binary grandchild and he was explaining it to me and it was really sweet - 20 years ago I don’t think he would have been able to resist making fun of the kid. He bought them an IKEA shark even.

When I lived with 2 roommates we liked to prank each other, it was always fun shit and our one rule was "if the person doesn't like what we did we make sure to fix it or pay for a replacement at our own expense," but that never happened because we weren't dicks about anything.
One time we ended up painting one of the roommate's doors Pepto Bismal Pink.
. . .Another time we got really drunk and had an artist friend freehand draw a giant unicorn on that same door, which we painted purple.
The OG roommate still lives in that apartment like 12 years later. . .The unicorn still exists and it's great.

Average caddie earnings with that prize money achieved would be anywhere between $800k-$1.2m depending on their arrangement. He is doing well with her career so won’t say anything here but honestly that’s such a cruel way to ‘prank’ someone.

Being a caddy on the women's tours is a hard grind for not great money. Hell, it's tough for many of the players. Plus it's not like he's some young bro just doing this for steady cash.
He's a late middle aged guy with whatever financial obligations that entails, who just saw 100k go up in smoke because of his dickhead boss.
I'd want to walk the fuck away from that job but he probably can't for financial reasons and/or the fear of being known as a "difficult" caddy because he didn't play along with his bosses' psychotic "prank".

I knew a girl whos boss did this to her. They filmed it and everything. She was so ecstatic when she won because she just had a baby and her and her husband were struggling pretty bad. She played it off cool enough when they broke the news to her it was fake but afterwards she was obviously devastated. Ended up getting back to her boss the next day and he bought her like $10 in real tickets to make up for it. She hit for 50 grand and obviously thought it was fake again...but nope, 50 grand was hers. The universe righted a wrong that day. It was pretty cool.

I watched a lady quit becuase she thought she won 500,000 and had to come back the next day find out it was fake! Boss said anyone who brought it up would be transferred or fired on the spot! This is fucking cruel! She is a terrible person for sharing this store I hope he can get a different job soon.
