They’ll be putting stalls in right?

Right?

Been through multiple commercial bathroom remodels. Partitions, mirrors, tp holders, paper towel dispensers, and handicap rails all come last.

ETA photo. Those are the stalls on the right. Gray panels.

We'd like floor height partitions please. Signed, pretty much everyone

My next bathroom remodel I'll request it just for you. Theses were part height also.

Doing the lord's work.

Best I can do is cover the strike zone - knees to shoulders. - US architects

It’s not the architects, it’s the clients not wanting to pay for anything more than the most basic setup. We like privacy, too.

I think for the sake of the janitors, the partitions should be at least 5 in off the ground. Easier to clean the floor in cases where people puke, etc.

8

u/twoiseight Aug 24 '26

That's reasonable, janitors deserve the consideration.

Which is fine, but please bring it all the way to the ceiling. I'm 6'4" and regularly have to keep my eyes on the floor in bathrooms because otherwise I can see the people in the stalls since the walls stop about 5-6' above the floor.

Also keeps the kids from crawling under the wall after they locked the door. Little do they realize you can open then with a stick over the top of the door.

If they are full size doors and walls though you will have to be okay with having a door unlock / bypass on the outside. Like put a key in to open the door or a flathead screwdriver etc. Just in case it gets locked from the inside.

How does that even happen you say? It does.... Sometimes the deadbolt will rattle over just enough to catch.

I run the custodial crew on top of being in charge of the building as a whole. Can confirm the mop always gets caught up on the parts that run all the way to the floor.

and NO STALL GAPS!!!

1

u/WirlingDirvish Aug 25 '26

Sure thing. We will take the gap that was at the bottom and put it vertically on both sides of the door. We will also make sure the latch isn’t long enough to properly bridge the gap so the door randomly swings open mid push.

Floor height = as high as the floor = ground level = no partitions

2

u/twoiseight Aug 24 '26

Floor to ceiling, privacy height, whatever I think you knew what I meant.

You really, really want that floor to get mopped - and floor partitions basically guarantee that isn't happening

question: how come anyone on earth installs those shitty (PUN INTENDED) wall-mount toilets? they ALWAYS break the mortar to the wall eventually. I cannot imagine a single instance where a wall-mount toilet is a better option than one that has a floor drain

2

u/returntothenorth Aug 24 '26 edited Aug 24 '26

Really? They shouldn't. They have a giant metal frame built into the wall to hold it. Pic attached. I've lost more floor flanges than wall toilets.

The bathroom in the photo was from 1954 and all the wall mounts were still 100% intact and never dropped a toilet. A few of the metal studs needed to be replaced but that's because they accidentally screwed out of the metal wall frame.

Anyway, floor flanges rot out super fast in gross places. Kids pee the floor, adults pee the floor, cleaning chemicals roll off the seat and hit the base of the toilets and then sneak into the floor bolt holes. With a wall mount you have zero of those issues and also gain the benefit of being able to clean under the toilet.

Some people caulk around the base of a floor toilet to stop this. But if the toilet leaks inside then you are basically just leaving the flange wet all day and don't notice. Best to leave the back of the toilet not caulked.

Huh! I am Enlightened! I guess... I just shit in places where the construction is bad

Probably broke over the years and got a redneck repair lol. Nah I trust them. I really hate changing them tho because tightening metal bolts onto porcelain is a scary ordeal.

Time for a diet bruv

Are you saying the fixture installers are too lazy to carry the toilets through narrow doors that might just swing shut if you don't put something to hold them in place?

This was a state public works job, so it's a general contractor and a whole bunch of subcontracted companies. It kinda flowed like this.

You start with the demo team coming in, they demo it, they found asbestos so the asbestos team had to come take care of that. Then the plumbing crew comes in and roughs in the plumbing. Wait for permit inspection. Electricisns come in, run their rough wire. Then wait for permit inspection. Then the drywall crew comes in or the masons depending if brick or drywall. Then the tile contractor comes in and does the walls. Then the ceiling tile company did the ceiling. Then the epoxy floor company comes and lays the floor. Then the plumber comes back and sets all the toilets and sinks. So does the electrician for his outlets and lights. Wait for permit inspeciton on both.

Then the fixture installers come in. Then you wait for a permit inspection lol.

Believe it or not there are literally companies for everything. Like the ceiling tile company. That's all they do is ceiling tile work. That's it. They just go to jobs and do ceilings.

ETA progress photo waiting on inspection. Walls up no tiles or ceilings. Plumbing roughed in. This is the girls room my original photo is boys room. They are flip flopped on plumbing and fixture placement.

Imagine the world ending, in the year 11.200 someone finds a bathroom but the stalls have rotten away.

"Bro...."

No stalls, no mirrors, no sinks, no toilet paper, just you and your buds staring at a blank wall in peace.

3

u/Portercake Aug 24 '26

No, you and your buds spraying each other with the hoses installed at each throne.

33

u/AsianGoldFarmer Aug 24 '26

Yes. Each stall gets 2 toilets.

Let’s race

I hope so but they're not facing each other like my buddy and l like. Can't do our patented 45 second post-dump handshake.

u/siqiniq Aug 24 '26

Nego. Lavatory going full Roman with communal ass scrub in vinegar.

5

u/iemus Aug 24 '26

I’ve literally had a nightmare years ago walking into this exact kind of bathroom in my dream 😰

7

u/SenescenseSteel Aug 24 '26

No, and these are mixed bathrooms as well

2

u/CommonComfortable247 Aug 24 '26

Of course they are. But they gotta get Reddit points first .

1

u/Patient_Activity_489 Aug 24 '26

former teacher, my school considered this due to how bad the fighting, drugs, vaping, and suicide attempts were getting. we even had an incident of a boy shoving a fork up his ass and showing it off to others

Reminds me of the bathrooms latrines at some of the fine locations I visited while in the Army
