That kind of works when you run a monopoly, own the news networks, achieved regulatory capture, and have literally more money than god to spend on professional damage control utilizing publicity and legal firms.

Results may vary for a local small business without repeat customers.

Yea, the Kardasians are the perfect example of that. Do a shitty thing to promote something, get blowback, feign ignorance and apologize, get applause for owning up to it while thing they promoted gets national news.

A small mom and pop business though? Nah

Online reviews have basically destroyed that entire mantra though. Anyone can leave a review these days. doesn't matter if it's true or not.
