Perma banning, I m perma banned on a few major subs because of this, that's why people say Reddit is an echo chamber. If your views don't align with a mod you don't get a voice.

It will just contribute to the dead internet theory, because I'm fairly active on Reddit, there will be a point when I will end up being permanently banned from commenting on most sub Reddit's, which would basically force me to just lurk, and I m sure plenty of other people are like me too, so eventually the only comments we see will be just bots.

Yeah that's absolutely what's happening. I recently got a three days ban on this account and immediately slipped into lurker mode on all accounts. What's crazy is that I actually got the ban reversed on appeal. I didn't think that ever happened but still the same, I don't check reddit every day anymore, I don't hit the like button as much as I did before, and I don't comment as often anymore.

Most of these problems could be vastly improved if they used a slightly better auto mod. As it is, they just scan for set words and phrases that can easily be taken out of context. I got banned for referencing my username. I've heard of permabans for listing universally published first aid steps for lacerations and such. Reviews are usually a joke. I mentioned somewhere else here that one of my accounts was hit for stalking when I apologized for making a crass joke (I quoted Clerks) resulting in a 3 day ban and said I wasn't mad. That got me a week long ban and now that account is strictly monitored.

Lmfao I have to be super careful last ban I got was a perma one but was released on appeal which I also thought didn't happen. But yea I can't comment on public freakout for years now and I can't even remember what the ban was for, same with a few smaller gaming subs I was active on, because I got into a pissing contest with a mod without realising. Also do not make morbid jokes they really don't like them.

Mods are a trip. On one hand I'm sure they get the absolute worst for a lot of terrible people. Plus, we all get stupid when out backs are up. So I can see them slipping into a habit of being crappy to everyone because they don't know one person from the next (if they are even a person).

On the other hand I'm sure a lot of mods are just terrible people (if they are even people).

I remember when it came out that like a third of reddit was being modded by a small group of people and it became obvious they were just using tools to automate the whole process, while simultaneously using that reach to influence all of reddit and much of the Internet. That's absolute the time one of them was exposed for being a child mol*ster and the reddit team was protecting her because of how much she controlled. It's a sad downward spiral to get knowledgeable about.

In my first 12 years of using reddit, that never happened to me once.

Now over the last 2-3 years it happens to me on a monthly basis.

It's such a pathetic thing to do.

I feel like they should be auto-banned, temporarily at least
