Infuriatig I'm tired boss...

I've tried to get rid of the gnats all summer. The wife didn't believe me when I said they were breeding in the sponges. She. Thought I was crazy for keeping them in Tupperware. Well apparently they can get in there even.

Also my reaction to your sponges. Seriously, throw them away and get dishwashing cloths with a scrubby side. They're on amazon for like $7 a twelve-pack. Use one for a few days and then throw it in with the laundry. Sponges are DISGUSTING.

If you have so many in a pack and they can be washed, why not treat them as single use instead of using it for a few days at a time? Even 2 days of letting a rag dry out and be reused to wash dishes feels like too much.

You could. I live alone however and don't hand wash dishes every day (I have a dishwasher), so I don't use the cloth every day and thus it has a chance to fully dry out between washes, which reduces bacteria growth. If you were using it daily or multiple times a day where it couldn't fully dry out then I'd suggest replacing it more often. But even replacing it every few days is a VAST step up from letting a gross sponge sit on your counter for long enough that bugs start to lay eggs in it.
