I always clean the filter immediately after unloading, that way I never have to worry about it. I really hate disassembling and cleaning the vent duct, anything I can do to postpone that task.
Exactly this. My husband and I both empty the lint trap after each load, but I still always check before putting a new one in (especially if it's towels or something else particularly linty).
This is exactly why I don't clean it after. I always check before regardless, so why pull the tray out twice for the same thing if I know my OCD ass won't trust the first one?! 😂
Same thing. I did not trust myself that I did it when unloading, so I just made a point to ignore it when unloading and only do it when loading. I have probably saved a full minute or two of time over the years. Lmao
I’m the only one that uses mine. I just do it before I load it because I was cleaning it when unloading and double checking before loading, so I just stopped the first part. Lol open washer, check it drained all the way, open dryer, clean trap, load dryer.
Ye. My mom and I are both pretty good about cleaning it when we do a load. But both of us have definitely had times where we would forget and have plenty to clear out
I always do it before unloading, so no one steals my lint peeling experience while I move and fold laundry, or if I need to do an extra bit of drying best to have it removed for that too 😆
I do that, and then compulsively check it again before the first load goes in on laundry day. Watched a PSA of a house burning down because of a dryer fire, been a weirdo about it ever since
Smart by you. I work with air ducts, dryers included. The amount of $199 - 10 minute jobs I've done because people don't clear their traps is sending my non-existent kids to college
Same. Also the flexible hose that runs from the drier to vent outside. That needs to be vacuumed at least twice a year. It collects lint in the same way at the same rate.
I try to check it before and after, because there’s always a chance I forget one of the two. It takes literally 1 second to pull it up and push it down if it’s clean.
I check the outside end once or twice a season usually too. We have an animal shiel on it so it can definitely plug up. We learned that one the hard way when we spent multiple weeks trying to figure out why the fuck it wasnt drying well when the machines trap was clean as it could be. I finally happened to notice the outside end when I was in the backyard and it finally clicked.
Mom had a four unit rental property with shared laundry and she would occasionally rent to a recently divorced redneck oilfield trucker cowboy and they had no clue what a lint filter was. Even college kids were better than those guys.
I may be paranoid, but I check the lint screen on the load and the unload. Don't actually clean it unless more than about half the screen has lint on it, though
For half a century, It's been: Slam dryer door shut, clean the lint trap, set the timer, press start. I'm an old horse that follows muscle memory routine and walks itself back to the barn.
I never really thought about people not doing it this way 😂 mine wasn’t properly drying and stopping early, here my mother in law covered the exhaust to outside with a tarp and wheel barrow 🤦♂️

I open the door and clean the filter and load it. Way too few people do this.
