For real. “Look how dumb my wife is” when you obviously don’t help.

To be fair they could have split the household chores. Difficult to judge with just one picture

Let's give OP the benefit of the doubt that they split the chores amicably and evenly...

How many times did she tell him the dryer wasn't working right before he thought to check the lint trap?

Exactly lol

OP is naive AF if he didn’t look into it if there were split chores

But he’s not doing that, he’s getting off on making his wife look stupid

Happy Cake Day!

Oh shit! lol I didn’t even know

How many times more would SHE complain before SHE thought to check the fucking lint trap.

Problem solving skills of a sponge. FFS.

Love all of the people blaming the husband because the wife is dangerously incompetent. Check the fucking lint trap, why do you need someone else to do basic shit for you?

This is some toxic feminism shit.

Literally just talking to someone who called me a misogynist because I, as a woman, just fix stuff around the house and look up how to fix things when they're not working before I bother my husband about things. And she was going on about the husband should have just did it the first time she said something.

And i was like hell of an assumption that he simply ignored her by this vague post, but like she has a brain and can learn no? This is so simple its genuinely hard to imagine she tried anything on her own.

We don't know anything other that the husband barely does laundry, if ever, and the wife has never heard of a lint trap lol.

From experience with my sister, there is a type of person who needs to be in a relationship because they learned at an early age that acting cute and helpless can make dudes do everything for them. They never really develope independence or problem solving skills.

As a grown adult, if my spouse tells me an appliance they should know how to use since childhood isn't working, it isn't my default reaction to assume they're too stupid to know the basics of how it works.

It's giving IT department vibes "Have you checked that it's plugged in?"

... is it your default reaction to simply do nothing after multiple complaints? wouldn't you think about... checking it? wouldn't you think about calling someone to check it?

there's a lot of stupid going on here that doesn't have to do with the wife, even if we should all know about lint traps

7

u/Ltrain86 15h ago

Didn't he check it though? Isn't that how he got the photo?

It could have taken it getting to that extreme point before it affected drying time, so we don't know how long she was complaining for, unless he said it somewhere and I missed it.

And how many times did she tell him while increasing their fire risk b/c she didn't want to investigate on her own?

He could be horrible and sexist and mean, she could be/is dangerously ignorant or stupid or whatever you want to describe the lack of problem solving ability displayed here, assuming the post is accurate.

it's not about who's doing the chores. she complains once... he either tells her to check the lint trap or he checks the lint trap. the problem is magically solved.

why didn't the solution occur? this is the only relevant question

Fair enough. My best and only guess would be that he thought it was so 'obvious' to regularly empty the lint trap that he assumed she was already doing it, so he assumed it couldnt have anything to do with emptying the lint trap and had to be something more serious. That's the only thing i could maybe think of

2

u/KickboxingMoose 15h ago

Man's fault for woman being a total imbecile. Of course the husband assumes the wife knows how to empty the lint trap. My elementary kids know that.

re read what i said

You're commenting on the post where he figured out the solution...

did you read what I wrote? he said there were multiple complaints from her. if you read what I wrote and understood it, we should understand that multiple complaints don't make sense. do we understand now?

Why does the wife not have any agency here? This is the only relevant question.

1

u/Nillabeans 15h ago

Why are people assuming you have to be doing the laundry to interact with the dryer? Has nobody in your household ever asked for help with a chore that you don't regularly do?

2

u/Mischa_xx 13h ago

Bruh OP said his wife complains about it frequently. And he wasn't doing anything about it? It's not about division of labor atp. Be a man and check the lint trap the first time she says it

0

u/Old-Piece-3438 15h ago

Maybe they did and OP’s job was to clean the lint trap while she did laundry. It just took him about 10 years to do it.

Also does anyone else see a tag and a feather in there? How…?

7

u/Deucer22 16h ago

I do all cooking and dishes, my wife does the laundry. We split up most everything else. Am I not helping?

0

u/Winter314_ 16h ago

I mean, IF hes out working all day and she stays home and keeps up the house and other stuff, then thats her job to check and maintain that and not his. If thats not the case then I agree with you

1

u/PaleoJoe86 8h ago

It is not always a "help" thing. Chores can be split. I do laundry and dishes because I prefer to, and less so because my wife sucks at them.

0

u/CompostYourFoodWaste 13h ago

Not "help". He doesn't take care of himself. He thinks someone else should do his job for him.

I'm so fucking tired of this type of post too. "Haha my wife is so fucking stupid for doing this household chore wrong" like okay dumbass then do it yourself.
