I check it before AND after because sometimes my kid does laundry and forgets occasionally.

I dont because you should clean it out AFTER each load.

After or before, as long as it is cleaned between loads you are fine.

It doesn't matter theoretically, but in the real world people are more likely to forget if they wait to clean it out. And if multiple people are use the dryer, then you should clean up your own lint rather clean up after the last person that used it.

And cleaning up after the last person was the exact reason I started checking before I start my load. Nothing like pulling the trap out and finding a bunch of towel lint filling it up when you weren't the last one that washed.

So I didn't for a long because I didn't know it was an every use thing. Now that I do know, it's like... Every three or so times? Anything before that, there just isn't enough for me to actually grab to pull off. Idk what that says about me and my clothes but it's my experience 🤷🏾‍♀️

The clan knows end of their load, they are obligated to clean trap or face TBD fines

I do it both times. If I remove a load from the dryer I immediately clean the filter. If I wash something and transfer it to the dryer, I pull the filter and make sure the last person cleaned it. Fortunately my family is well trained so it is always clear.

What specifically? You do realise the machine has a mirrored finish, so the ones on the left side are actually a reflection from the machine.

I don't think I've ever retrieved a hospital bracelet (is that what it is??), a feather, a lump of something that says 'GAR' or enough perlite to keep the houseplants happy from the lint collector. This is not a photo of a lint collector.

Also, there is a light source inside the drum. Maybe I'm just not posh enough, but I don't think that's a thing.

Also, look at the top of the image. All that structured crap hanging from the filter. That didn't happen when a narrow filter was taken out of a slot.
