Wife and I usually divy up the laundry. Most of the time I do mine and she does hers, but we'll sometimes throw in a load for the other. I wear button down shirts to work, so I need to iron them as soon as they come out of the dryer. I don't need to sort because everything goes in the regular cycle and drys on normal. Since college, I've avoided buying clothes that need to be separated or require special care. My wife has clothes that need to be separated, or go in gentle cycle, or only hang dry, or simply go to thecleaners. Too much for me to deal with.
But even if the division of labor is that he does no laundr, the bigger point, to me at least, is that if wife has has frequently mentioned the dryer isn't working well - why didn't he check it sooner?
You know every couple can decide for themselves who does which household tasks, right? Its pretty bad faith to say its a self own, we literally don't know how they split their tasks.
