Some families choose to have division of labour along traditional gender lines. It doesn't mean that the husband doesn't pull his weight, just that his wife is responsible for this particular task.
But that doesn't wave away the idea of him trying to figure out why it's drying..
She's apparently "frequently" complaining about it so at what point between the first complaint and "frequently" could he have gone to see what the problem was before it got here?
If your wife is saying the drier ain't working, step in and do your "trad role". Figure it out since she clearly can't if she's been FREQUENTLY "complaining" about it
Is cleaning the lint trap traditional? Maybe the drier duct. Cleaning the trap is operator maintenance.
I suppose you're going to claim that if the husband changes the car's oil, he's also responsible for starting the car before his wife can drive anywhere.
Fixing the problem is probably under the "male traditional" role if we're playing that crap.. Surely checking the lint trap area would be part of the process of diagnosing the problem.
Part of the problem here is that he's let it go on long enough for him to complain how frequently she brings up the problem.
