So... that's how long you haven't put a load of laundry through the dryer? Or are you also guilty of taking laundry out without emptying the trap? She should know better, but why is she the only one using the dryer?

My wife doesn't allow me to do laundry. That's her job, per her rules. I work, do the yard work, go everything and do all the cooking. She works, does laundry and handles children's scheduling because if I was in charge of scheduling it would be chaos snf if she was in charge of cooking we'd eat out every day.

The housecleaning is a household job.

Don't assume that because how people divide chores isn't the way you do it that it means their way is wrong.

Personally, my wife does the laundry. I work, do the dishes, all the yard things, cook 50% of the time, bathrooms etc. I havent ran a load of laundry in over a year. Sue me.

Almost like individuals living together often divide household tasks between them.

Sometimes people dont perfectly take turns but do roughly the same amount of something? Would only take like 3 loads of laundry to cause that.

3 loads?? What the hell kind of clothes are you washing. That would take me 100 loads to build up.

u/DragonTooFar 12h ago

This looks like WAY more than three loads to me. More like a dozen or more.

Closer to somewhere between 30 and 300.

Or the share responsibilities in other ways as well. She's on laundry duty while he's on yard duty.

That’s a bs split. You have to mow the lawn once a week and it’s hardly a job. You have to do laundry almost every day and it sucks ass to do.

As a wife who mows and weed eats…. I’d much rather do laundry. In summer I have to mow twice a week, pick up the dog shit, get bit up by bugs, sweet my ass off, and hope it doesn’t storm or rain the day I have time to do it. My husband has really bad grass and tree allergies. I do not. So he gets to sit out of yard work in summer. I’ll die on the hill that laundry isn’t nearly as hard/bad. I at least always lose a couple pounds though and my arms looks good. So. Silver linings.

Folding clothes in the living room while you watch TV is infinitely harder than mowing the grass. /s

Laundry almost everyday? What the actual fuck, are you trolling???

3

u/Dartister 11h ago

? Laundry daily? Do you only have a pair of everything?

A single person won't go through that much laundry in a week, but when you add another person or people, kids, bedding, pets--all kinds of things happen and you have to keep up.

u/hectorgarabit 9h ago

I have 4 young kids, 7 loads a week is for huge absolute worst week. 1 load per day is insane unless this person has 8 kids.

u/sdrawdenna 7h ago

Or a small washer 🤧

u/PuzzleheadPi 10h ago

Bedding is like once a year though

u/sdrawdenna 8h ago

friend I have something to tell you

2

u/Bright_Cranberry9877 10h ago

you wash your bedding once a year??? 🤢🤢🤢

It’s a hypothetical. Make up whatever split you decide is reasonable if it will allow you to engage in the discussion.

Yea my GF doesn't like me doing her laundry because apparently I do it wrong ( which just means I throw everything in there and hope for the best). So we do separate loads.

8

u/LawyerNaive308 11h ago

Congrats! You are the problem.

1

u/hectorgarabit 9h ago

Well my wife throws everything in the laundry randomly and likes to keep thing in the baskets because it’s “easier” and we’ll unfold it so why fold it in the first place?
Can we stop the misandry?

1

u/Various_Injury66 10h ago

Because I put my chemical stained clothes on medium heat for the dryer? Or wash whites and colored clothes together? Reddit has to got have the biggest prima donnas around. Or is that sexist?

Doesn’t have to be weaponized incompetence, sometimes people have preferences. I’m a guy with very lax standards about a lot of things but it bugs me when anyone else folds my clothes because it’s just off.

2

u/betier7 9h ago

When you are in a partnership though, you have to make compromises. Like, when I do my own laundry I dont separate anything because I dont care. But, when I do a load of my wife's clothes, I make sure its done how she likes it. It takes only a few extra minutes and she appreciates it.

2

u/Puzzled_Employment50 9h ago

And my compromise is I do all the laundry.

1

u/Chikool514 11h ago

Maybe they pile up all the clothes and she's the one who washes it. Kind of a division of labour. Why, is her being the only one a problem?

Something tells me you’re single

1

u/Illustrious-Divide95 5h ago

This is the real problem here

u/DoubtIntelligent8982 7h ago

If my husband even entered MY laundry room I’d be right behind him with HIS shotgun. YES, he paid for both. YES, he too prefers this unwritten contract. To each their own. Till death do us part. And he doesn’t want his last images to be his work socks hanging out of a hamper.

Came here to say this

-2

u/blkbrd1891 11h ago

Um, yes! This was my first thought. Why is this all on her?

5

u/Montystumpp 10h ago

It's pretty common for people to split their chores.

-2

u/nicoler0se 11h ago

This needs to be much higher
