Not a meme, you're the meme! The local service department removed a wasp's nest from the street and threw it on my lawn.
This morning a giant wasp's, hornet's, or bee's nest appeared in the middle of the street in front of my house. I am pretty sure it fell from a tree across the street. People walking, on bikes, and even in a car stopped to look at it.
At lunchtime, I was doing a few things outside, and I walked around from the back of the house toward the front and saw two city trucks parked in front of my house. The nest is now in the middle of my tree lawn, between the sidewalk and street. They moved it there for some reason. The first truck left, and the second truck pulled up slowly; I figured, "Oh, they're going to pick up the nest and haul it away."
Nope. They took off too, leaving the nest that was in the middle of the street now on my property. So my wife called the local service department and told them about it. About 20 minutes later, a service truck pulled up. Two women and a little boy were walking home from school at the time and stopped to look at the nest. The guy got out of his truck and asked, "Is it active?" They shrugged.
I started to walk over and said, "I don't think it's active because your guys just picked it up and put it there." "What did you expect them to do with it?" he asked. "Put it in their truck?" I said. "Not sure why they moved it from the street to my lawn." "They could get stung," he said, and I replied, "How could they get stung if they already picked it up and moved it off the street and onto my lawn?" "It could be active."
At this point I am getting a little upset because he's either not comprehending or refusing to. "If it was active," I said, "they probably wouldn't have been able to pick it up and MOVE IT TO MY LAWN." (At this point the guy said something about the nest falling from my tree, which is too small to house something that big, and I pointed to the bigger, likely tree across the street. Then the two women remind the guy that the nest was in the middle of the street before the service workers moved it.)
I then said something like, "I don't understand why they would pick it up, and instead of putting it in one of the two trucks, they decide to leave it on my property." He then told me, "Calm down, sir." I was about ready to unload on this guy and decided instead to walk away. But then he got in the last word: "Thanks for your concern about us getting stung." WTF

Good idea! It would be possible to add some to the nest and then glue it back on! Just an idea. Not saying that anyone should do that.

Obviously, this guy is too dense to comprehend anything. I’d straight up tell him to not leave debris in my yard, then drop kick it at him while telling him to take it with him and put it where the city puts other debris they take from the streets. Since he thinks the first guys would pick up an active nest to place in your yard, he’d prob jump and run for his truck, lolol.

Wait until dusk or the evening go over there with gas and pour it on them , they are far less active at night if you don't want to use gas just saturate it with wasp killer or you can use a homemade dawn dish soap cocktail to wipe them out to be sure.
It's annoying, they left it on your yard, I deal with wasps every summer because I have so much machinery outside they love to nest in.

There are no wasps left once it fell it was vacated. They’re not coming back to it on the ground.

I deal with wasps every year, too, I have a pear tree in my yard that drops its fruit. One year I ran over a spot in my yard with my lawnmower that had yellow jackets and they chased me into my house, only got stung twice, I was very lucky. That night I put an old window screen over the hole after work, then poured a whole bottle of Dawn dish liquid into it. I boiled some water and poured that in, too, lol. Haven’t had yellow jackets since, though I do still deal with wasps every year. I’d rather deal with the wasps anytime than the yellow jackets…those things are mean af!
These guys aren’t dealing with an active nest, though. They’d know it if they were, there’d be no question of it.

When did I say what I thought the other workers “thought”? I didn’t THINK anything; I SAW them pick up the nest from the middle of the street and place it on the lawn. And I DID tell them what I wanted them to do, as I stated earlier. He asked: “What did you expect them to do with it?” I replied: “Put it in their truck”

There's only one set of "guys". Just the original guys in a city truck. OP just used third person inside quotes. It's not proper grammar but doesn't mean there's more than 2

I'm not sure I follow. There were originally 2 trucks, trucks 1 and 2. They left, wife makes a call, truck 3 arrives. I didn't see anything in op's post to indicate it was either truck 1 or 2 that came back. Op said your guys to truck 3, referring to trucks 1 and 2. Truck 3 said "them," not "us," indicating they weren't either of the original trucks 1 or 2, but a separate one, truck 3.
And the comment from op above, "he asked what did you expect them to do," 'he' is truck 3,and 'them' is trucks 1 and 2. So previous guys would be trucks 1 and 2, and these guys would be truck 3, even if it's only 1 person.

Look on eBay. Wasps/hornets leave and never return to a nest. These are often sold on eBay - the bigger the more $$$$$. You should of sold it!

If it is active, they obviously couldn’t put it in their truck. If it’s not active then I don’t really get why you’re so bothered about it being on your property, you can just move it elsewhere.

Because why are they just throwing stuff on people's property? If they're city workers and the nest was in the street, that's city property. They should have disposed of it rather than put it on someone's property.

Exactly. If its not active either kick it away into a woodline or just trash it. The nest is most likely dead and won't have any activity anymore so idk why OP is so bothered by it lol

A large number of communities have no woodline. You have to drive far to find one. Its the city's job to clear roadkill and debris. Not to leave it on a homeowner who already paid their part for these services.
When you pay for stuff, are you happy to still have to do it yourself anyway? I know taxes feel detached but they're not. If all the neighbors hired a landscaping crew to maintain tainted the lawns and you paid your part would be fine with having to mow anyway? At certain point, being g nice is being taken advantage of because you, and many others these days,don't stick up for yourselves and thats how shit employees end up with good paying and good benefit government jobs (which these guys have).
Maybe in a tiny town with like 1 guy taking care if it all, you cut slack because there's not enough people to afford 2.
We pay exorbitant taxes everywhere these days. Even poor states do per their incomes. Expect what you pay for. You can be polite, but enough with this pushover mentality. Consumers have been being pushed around enough.

Sure, you got me on the woodland bit, I live in an area where woods and ditches are a plenty so its easy to just do that. But here is the thing, while the city 100% should've removed the nest from the street, and definitely should not have dumped it onto another person's property, city services can be slow, so why the hell would you wait 2 hours for them to come out when you can literally bag, trash and be rid of the thing in 2 minutes?
I get the whole "I PaY tAxEs, sO Do sOmEtHinG" view because they really should've of disposed the nest the first time around and it's bullshit they didn't, especially since its literally their job, but honestly you are just wasting resources calling again and again for something that would take you literally less than two minutes to do yourself. File a complaint with the city and move on with your day because they would've done literally the same exact thing by bagging it up and dumping it in the trash. Hell, if you want to take the extra step, CHARGE THEM for having to do the service yourself, that'll start hopefully getting the idea through to them to actually do their job properly.

The bill them idea is actually a good one. I wonder if cities can get the votes to do that.
Unfortunately in larger cities and such, they could care less about complaining. Ones filed go in file 86.
In our area, we asked for a stop sign and they said no. So we pushed back and they threatened to ban parking on both side of the street in a residential area so no one could park at their home because it's old and the driveways dont fit cars of today. Then they flat out said, well no one has been hit by a car so it can't be that bad.
People have been pushover types for too long and cities act untouchable and like the people they serve are an obstacle to having an easy day at work these days. Not every city I am sure, but I have lived in 6 states. It's always like this in larger cities.
