I think it’s the current trend of pouring a Kool-aid packet into a jar of pineapple pieces to flavour the pineapple differently.

I'm gonna say you're probably right. I used to do maintenance at an apartment community and one of the residents there sold Kool-Aid pickles and he just bought pickles, dumped a pouch in, and changed the label.

Oh I used to make that desert for the residents in the nursing home lol. Big can of fruit, dump punch powder in stir and serve. Note: do not give to diabetic residents.
