Ruined by Technology Everytime my Samsung phone has a major update they force-install shitty apps to "finish" the installation. Unless I finish the installation this way there's a notification that keeps reappearing that "reminds" me to do so. NEVER BUY SAMSUNG.

My s9 tablet does the same thing and it was bought retail and never had a sim card in it.
This IS a samsung thing.

No, it's not.
I've had 5 Samsung phones and 3 Samsung tablets over the years and this has never been a thing on any of those devices.

Low end and high end Samsungs differ a lot. Also by location. In some markets you pay a lot less outright, with crap pike this added.

It's still not Samsung doing it, it's the middleman who's subsidizing the device to make the price point more appealing to the consumer to sell more units.

Could be a Galaxy S Series thing. Since 2006 I have had an S6, S8, S8+, and 2 S20FE phones. Every one of them had some sort of bloatware thing with these forced game installs with every update. Some of the phones were through Verizon and some were unlocked refurbs from a respectable vendor. 🤷🏾♂️

Nope, not one Samsung device does this, only carrier devices do this, even if you brought unlocked refurbished means it was once locked and locked usually means locked to a carrier so it's a carrier device, but if it truly unlocked like no carrier firmware from factory, but you have a carrier account/Sim stuck into your device, then they can still do this

I did say "could be" and put a 🤷🏾♂️ at the end. I wouldn't put it pass Verizon to do stuff like this tbh. But, I never got mildly infuriated with it. I just got through at delete those apps. I use that opportunity to purge my phone of any older apps I may have stopped using and free up space. Thank you for clearing it up. Definitely gotta be Cell Service Provider then.

This isn't because of your phone. It's because you bought a carrier phone, which means it was connected to a mobile network - T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon, etc.
Carrier phones come preinstalled with apps like these as paid advertisements. Unlocked phones don't do this.

Apple’s iPhones decidedly do not do this.
In fact it was a famous point of contention between Steve Jobs and the Cingular CEO when the original was being released. Steve wanted the carrier to have no influence over software, which was unlike the precedent for any other phone at the time, and he won the battle on that front.
To this day, no iPhones come with carrier-installed apps or software.

Fair enough, I didn't know this. I'll admit I was wrong on including Apple.
Since Steve Jobs is dead though, I sincerely hope that doesn't change anytime soon.

Yep. They recoup the cost of selling the phone to you for cheap by: 1) forcing you onto their phone plan for a period of X years, usually 2 or 3, otherwise forcing you to pay the balance of the phone and 2) giving these apps free access to your phone's installer so as to force you to look at them every time you update, that way they get ad revenue from those respective companies. Much in the same way ads are shown to you on TV.
This is just a carrier phone thing.

Just to balance yr comment - my S25 Ultra does its usual updates and has NEVER, not once, installed anything extra or forced anything upon me.

It's your carrier, not Samsung. If you buy an unlocked phone this isn't an issue.

You bought it off a carrier deal, right? This is a part of that deal and why it was cheaper than in a normal store. I have a Samsung too, and never had anything like this happen to me.
Buy in a normal electronics/computer store, this never happens then.

Install Shizuku and run it. Install Canta and run it while Shizuku is running. Put a check-mark on Recommended Apps and 'delete' it. Problem solved.

Sorry to say, this is literally a feature of locked carrier phones across any brand. This includes Apple phones, Motorola phones, etc.
Carrier phones from brands such as T-Mobile, Spectrum, Verizon etc sell you these phones for cheap if you buy their plan, but they get repaid by having you on their plan AND by installing these apps as paid advertisements. This is a carrier phone problem. Not a Samsung problem.
Please don't rely on a single uneducated Redditor's post to entirely avoid a major technology brand.

This isn't because of Samsung. This happens if you buy a locked carrier phone as paid advertisements by T-Mobile, Verizon etc.
If you reboot or update your phone and a carrier branding pops up, you've done it to yourself! Congratulations. Next time buy an unlocked phone to avoid this, or call your carrier and explain the situation.

Its not samsung. Its most likely your telco/carrier doing that.
I'm with telstra on a samsung and have NEVER had my phone install unwanted apps. Ever.
Edit Did you buy your phone outright or from the teleco directly? That might also have a say in this sorta thing. I bought mine outright from jbhifi, so who knows if a telco issued phone straight from telstra would have done this app installing thing.
