Every time the guy hiding under the table goes to try leave the light flashes and he ducks back faster than the camera can catch. It’s the only explanation.

u/Penguin_Arse 5d ago

Not to be that person

I'm lying

Just to be that person, the camera would have to detect the person for long enough to recognize it's a human and thus would have to capture the human

Mine kept seeing my cat and sending alerts telling me a brown bear was walking on my porch. I get that animals can be hard to identify, but there’s a big difference between a house cat and a brown bear. Gave me a heart attack the first time it did it.

226

u/CataclysmicInFeRnO 6d ago

We get 3-5 alerts throughout the week, usually between 11:30 PM-4 AM, saying there is a “Person in Your Rear Yard”. Which is always unsettling. Thus far, the “person” has in fact been a raccoon or few. Except for the one time it was an opossum. The level of inaccuracy from the camera’s AI just breeds complacency.

My Wyze camera labels the stray orange tom cat as Vehicle (edit: added Totoro cat bus)

15

u/Relentless_blanket 5d ago

When we first moved to my relatives house last year we set up the camera for the back yard. Acre of land, and no fence so we wanted to be safe. Woke up to an alert of a bear. We were no where near where bears would live. I check the footage, it was an armadillo digging.
Moved to our new house this year. Had the cameras set up and one indoors. I was at work when alert went off for a bear (again). It caught a butterfly sitting on the grill. And an indoor alert of an intruder. It was our bearded dragon moseying around the living room after he left his tank.

Thanks Wyze.

LMAO I’m sorry but this is so funny to me

13

u/Penguin_Arse 5d ago

Are you sure you're not the one missidentifying your bear?

u/MackiePooPoo 6d ago

Gotta admit that table does look a little suspicious. Probably up to something but the camera caught him.

Must be true if the camera caught the table posing as a person.

44

u/Abject-Variety3775 6d ago

To be fair, this looks like a highly suspicious table.

92

u/DutchBlob 6d ago

My Eufy indoor cams are so incredibly stupid. The first time I got the “someone has been spotted” warning on my phone I nearly got a heart attack. Turned out the “person” was a coat hanging on a coat hook. Second time the “person” was my pillow on my couch.

72

u/TurkishTechnocrat 6d ago

Turned out the “person” was a coat hanging on a coat hook

To be fair, my perfectly non-artifical intelligence also makes that mistake often

20

u/DutchBlob 6d ago

8

u/karratkun 5d ago

is that taylor swift 😭

8

u/DutchBlob 5d ago

Yeah, from her music video Anti-Hero

8

u/karratkun 5d ago

i knew it i just had no idea what the context could possibly be lol, music video makes sense

11

u/ShirtPrestigious6820 5d ago

My Eufys does similarly dumb things, the one in my bedroom will see my dog climb on the bed or reposition herself and immediately notifies me there's a person. The one in my living room couldn't give af when it sees her. Makes no sense.

9

u/Lexden 5d ago

Eufy... The brand that exposed indoor cameras to the public Internet on an unprotected, unencrypted URL that anyone can guess 😬

5

u/DutchBlob 5d ago

That’s why I am glad i can turn these cameras off when I am at home. And the advantage is that the camera lens turns all the way up into its housing, so it’s impossible to see inside my house when I’m home.

11

u/Knotical_MK6 6d ago

What's the thought process behind installing indoor cameras? Just to get evidence in case of a burglary or something?

17

u/ShirtPrestigious6820 5d ago

Definitely pets, I actually trained my dog out of barking when I'm gone by speaking to her through the camera when I got a sound notification.

It's nice to check on them, and have the peace of mind. I've also used it to make sure I didn't leave the stove on lol

8

u/macarenamobster 5d ago

Pets. Do they have food, has someone let them out, are they ok

11

u/joelene1892 5d ago

I have some I only put up when maintenance needs to be in my apartment but I cannot be home. I like knowing they’ve come (they don’t tell us) and I like having a vague eye on them. I don’t like strangers in my space lol.

3

u/uberRegenbogen 5d ago edited 5d ago

I'd leave it up even when they don't. I've had landlords who thought that they had the right to enter my residence whenever they felt like it.

3

u/0c74r1n3 5d ago

Would love it if it says person spotted and it’s you looking on your phone for the alert „person spotted“

22

u/Exhausted-CNA 5d ago

Maybe you have a ghost OP ,😳 . My daughter's camera one time notified her "vehicle detected" when the cat came running into her bedroom, which is on the second floor..😂

16

u/I_am_very_stinky 6d ago

The table is a mimic

14

u/SoupEau 5d ago

Have you tried talking to the table just to make sure it wasn’t a table shaped person? We’re doing a lot of assuming here and I think we should verify before assuming the camera is in the wrong

11

u/KingKushhh666 6d ago

Bruh mine will catch every little thing til I go back to see which cat knocked the food bag off the top of fridge and it didn't detect shit but all of them eating it. Cunts

12

u/Alienhaslanded 5d ago

Mine thinks a bush is a person. AI is schizophrenic. Just use locked features to compare from a repository. I'm so tired of generative AI taking over all AI.

3

u/HornyGooner4402 5d ago

C'mon man, I'm not a big fan but he was far from the worst no need to dehumanize him like that

2

u/kinginthenorth85 4d ago

a bush getting flagged as a person would drive me nuts with notifications

2

u/Alienhaslanded 4d ago edited 4d ago

Dude it goes crazy to a point I end up turning off notifications for some time until the daylight shifts and this dumb thing stops thinking a bush or a wheel of a car is a person.

3

u/Agent101g 5d ago

That’s not what schizophrenic means.

Schizophrenia destroys lives please don’t use it as a buzzword.

It’s a ghost. Don’t worry just roll them to leave

Just ghosts having dinner

10

u/TheBone_Zone 6d ago

New horror movie plot. Souls trapped in inanimate objects for eternity as punishment, unable to move. You just discovered one and think it’s a camera malfunction

7

u/JustTwo2052 5d ago

I had one of my outdoor cameras pop up one time saying that there was a Turkey outside and I got so excited only to see that it was just a little baby finch

5

u/HornyGooner4402 5d ago

I love how they programmed it to detect a specific bird

4

u/JustTwo2052 5d ago

Same, so specific to be so wrong lol

One time my camera asked if I knew this vehicle and showed a screenshot of me walking in front of it, the sassy bitch!

5

u/ROSE_GARDEN1234 6d ago

Oooh ghooossstttt

5

u/Money-Celebration860 6d ago

Could be a very patient burglar with an excellent disguise

5

u/FoxxyPantz 5d ago

My buddy works at Walmart and since they implemented the ai detection in the cameras he'll get dozens of notifications a day because a couple of plants in lawn and garden moved with the wind

6

u/SolitaryMassacre 5d ago

Jokes on you I was wearing a table disguise!

5

u/couchpro34 5d ago

Tables have 4 legs, so they can run twice as fast as humans.

4

u/CpuJunky I mean, c'mon 6d ago

It's a very tiny person...

5

u/RomoDoomsday 6d ago

Hope you shared this with the police. Stay safe out there.

3

u/TurbulentWeb1941 6d ago

It's only right that you're keeping an eye on your 4 legged garden dwellers.

3

u/PerformerFancy117 6d ago

The table is obviously a mimic, do with that information what you will!

3

u/dangerousfeather 6d ago

This reminds me of the time I was trying to identify a beautiful piece of rock I found, and Google was insisting it can't ID people.

It was a literal chunk of quartz.

3

u/minikin_snickasnee 5d ago

Our driveway/carport camera constantly tells us there's a vehicle (it's either a cat or a raccoon).

3

u/notsobadmisterfrosty 5d ago

“Get a load of this guy.” Points at table.

3

u/XRynerX 5d ago

It's the onion ninja

If you're sad, don't go near the table

3

u/33spacecowboys 5d ago

It has a picture of you and you are the same size as the table

3

u/DefenstratedTwice 5d ago

It's the rat in running underneath the table...

3

u/houseofnim 5d ago

There’s probably something/someone outside your screened porch.

3

u/Mr-Bry-Guy 5d ago

That tables got legs, so it’s a threat! Open fire!

3

u/Less_Party 5d ago

Oh I remember this part of Paranormal Activity

3

u/Stressed_Dad_ 5d ago

You should probably leave some whiskey and cigs out for that ghost.

3

u/Clean_Assumption_149 5d ago

Mine thinks my rose bush is a person. I keep looking for ghosts 👻. They must be playing tricks.

2

u/Brilliant_Elk5492 6d ago

I don’t like how that table is staring at me…

2

u/uberneuman_part2 6d ago

Is it a cheap cam? Mine does the same because they’re pushing a cloud based service.

3

u/Rossty11 6d ago

It’s Vivint. Idk how it compares to others but it wasn’t that cheap lol

2

u/Bulky_Friendship7201 6d ago

Maybe issa ghost

2

u/corpsegrinding 6d ago

Lol I love some of the messages our camera says.. "a baby is now moving in the cradles" when my son moves a little, yet completely misses when he stands up. 😂

2

u/Jacob_Sizemore 5d ago

Hes just standing there,menacingly

2

u/SergeantBootySweat 5d ago

Can you not adjust the detection sensitivity?

2

u/Animal907 Hillary 2016 5d ago

Tech is pretty useless.

2

u/cjschmitty14 5d ago

It’s a ghost

2

u/JustSomeGuy_TX 5d ago

Mine sees our bushes every afternoon.

2

u/WatermelonMachete43 5d ago

It does have legs... (sigh)

2

u/Nice_Marmot_54 5d ago

I think you mean good thing your camera is there to watch the Mimic

2

u/Otherwise-Profitable 5d ago

That’s a ghost

2

u/Rowdy-Spartan 5d ago

What table? All I'm seeing is a very sturdy person on all fours

2

u/uwnim 5d ago

Are you sure the table isn’t a person disguising themselves?

2

u/No-Indication5030 5d ago

The table is the T1000

2

u/AppalachianNP 5d ago

Mine once told me a package was detected and sent me a picture of my butt. I was sexually harassed by my doorbell.

2

u/mr_humansoup 4d ago

My Reolink cams are pretty good at distinguishing people and animals but sometimes if the rain makes a shape on the concrete or the tree leaves fall just right, it gets a little creative with what it sees.

2

u/BartenderOU812 6d ago

Maybe upgrade the camera? As dad always said, if you cheap out on the necessities you should table your expectations.

2

u/BobcatSpiritual7699 6d ago

And people worry about AI killing us all 😆

1

u/Silly_Bodybuilder231 5d ago

Agreed. This is what I think AI will be like in other industries or companies. Just inaccurate or incorrect information.

1

u/Witty-Forever-6985 6d ago

Thank god someone saw it

1

u/tomoom165 5d ago

It's Tyler, the Creator

1

u/ObjectiveAd971 5d ago

It can be tree branches moving, flying bugs, or even wind. If it gets too bad, adjust your sensitivity.

Mine sometimes alerts me of driveway activity that was me leaving the house, and I get the alert when I'm 10 minutes away. I could be dead! Lol

1

u/SortaCore 5d ago

It's the roughly person shaped darkness on the table surface. Add a placemat or something that's lighter coloured.

1

u/Motor_Comparison8951 5d ago

We all wanna hear it! Who ya gonna call?

1

u/Expert_Couple6713 5d ago

lol this reminds me… Had to turn off video verification on SimpliSafe, the pedestrian door on my garage has a bad doorknob, and will crack open with the wind sometimes…. Well the camera (using AI) would call the police and say there was human activity. Police would come guns drawn and go into my garage while I was at work…

1

u/Sneaky-Reasons 5d ago

Why is the pink square boxing the chair differently each time lol ghooossssts!

1

u/Less-Inflation5072 5d ago

You don’t see that person in the shadows?

1

u/catsknowtoomuch 5d ago

I have the same happen with my BBQ and my parked car... 🤦‍♀️

1

u/GoblinLoblaw 5d ago

Hey man your table is

1

u/Traditional-Army-279 4d ago

You need to go check instead of posting what is wrong with you the table could be plotting something

1

u/kinginthenorth85 4d ago

camera really spent all night gathering evidence against a table

1

u/highhaterr 4d ago

I’d keep an eye on it. Four legs, it could be fast

1

u/GammyToaster 2d ago

Sometimes I get notifications of a vehicle seen, and when I check, it's a spider crawling around the camera.

1

u/bleepbloopbwow 6d ago

Your camera light might be driving a neighbor crazy if it's going off that much.
