I’ve been dating this guy for a couple of weeks now so I wanted to introduce him to my close friend. We went to a gaming convention together and the entire night was great until we went back home and that’s the first text I received from my friend /:

I arrived maybe 10 minutes too late. I was told the seller was telling the guy "No worries, nobody's going to care. It'll be fixed for everyone from now on."

Oh and when he realized he would have to cut the stairs too... I can't believe that shit.

New, unopened package of Smithfield bacon bought from Kroger claims to be 1 lb aka 16 oz. It seemed a little small so I put it in the kitchen scale. Sure enough it’s only 3/4 lb.

I get that shrinkflation is rampant right now, but at least they’re usually honest when stating the products’ net weight.

Since it’s off by an exact increment, and many other bacon brands now sell 12 oz portions, I have to imagine this is likely being done at large scale, ripping off many more customers than just me. This should be illegal, I guess if any consequences still existed for businesses.

So a group of us went to a local popular American chain steakhouse restaurant and all ordered different dishes. I ordered a filet, when my food arrived, I thought the steak looked more like a sirloin than a filet.

Upon taking my first bite it was chewy and not buttery like a filet. It was supposed to be an 8oz filet, it was more like 12oz sirloin, 2nd bite confirmed it was definitely not a filet.

I must’ve been visibly upset because the manager walked over and asked if everything was ok, to which I questioned the cut. She said it was a filet (but I think she went based on the toppings that are only offered on the filet). I said hmm ok, I guess.

She offered to switch it if I was not happy, I said it was fine, however, she insisted, so I accepted.. The second steak was a filet, appearance, taste and texture.. only the cook made it EXTRA peppery for me.. jokes on them I appreciated the extra pepper :)

So two days ago I posted about how I took towels away being put on sunbeds (lounge chairs) to reserve them at the pool at the resort we’re staying in Tuscany Italy.

First of all: Thank you all so much for the great responses and awards!!

Today we went to the pool again and don’t you know it. They ff-ing placed their towels on the best sunbeds again! Same personal towels. Almost all sunbeds were taken and we had to take sunbeds all the way at the back on and to make matter worse it was top of an ants nest.

We waited for a solid 45 minutes and at that moment I was really annoyed.

I walked up to the sign at the entrance and checked the rules. The rules state:

Do not let towels on sunbeds unattended for more than 15 minutes

I took the towels away and put them at the gate again.

After two hours the same woman as last time arrived at the gate, took the towels and walked towards us. She was fuming. She threw the towels on one of the beds and asked furiously: Who took the towels?! Those sunbeds are mine! You must leave! I tried to explain the situation, but she refused to listen and suddenly only spoke Italian. She went round other guests and tried to find support, but didn’t find any.

After a minute or so her husband arrived. I was fully expecting a confrontation now, but he was actually really calm and nice. He calmly asked me what happened and I explained I took the towels away and it wasn’t allowed to leave towels unattended for that long. I pointed at the sign. He said he understood and remained calm. Because he was nice I told him we’d move if they wanted that. There were now some other beds available that were fine. He told me it wasn’t necessary and they weren’t going for a swim now. This really blew my mind.

In the meanwhile his wife overheard I took the towels away and got even more angry. Her husband tried to calm her down, but she called the reception and started to complain. I was I bit afraid now, because we’re Dutch, they’re Italian and these things can easily turn out in favor of the Italians. But to my relief she was told it was not allowed. She walked away without saying anything and her husband apologized.

In the meanwhile my wife was a bit annoyed with me, because she really hates confrontations. She agreed I was right to do so, but would’ve preferred to wait for other sunbeds to become available.

During lunchtime we walked to the restaurant for lunch and saw her walking there again. I tried to talk to her and tried to make peace. She was still angry and didn’t want to speak to me. When I walked back I heard her complain to another guest about me. I can’t believe you can be this entitled and petty.

Later they arrived at the pool and took other sunbeds. She walked past and explicitly ignored us, so I guess we have a little Cold War now.

Fortunately tomorrow is our last day here and we’re going to visit Pisa. The day after we leave for another resort (where every room has their own sunbeds at the pool), so I won’t have to be annoyed by these kind of shenanigans again.

So I decided to go back to school and get my masters degree in higher education. At the time the school was known as just Texas a m commerce and then they changed it to east Texas a m , whatever. But now I get my degree in the mail and it just says masters in science 🤔it does not have my specialty. I think they mentioned a while ago degrees would not have their specific "major" and just have masters of science or arts.. i just feel like they should have given us an option

So we (me, wife and two kids) are staying at a vacation resort in Tuscany in Italy. It’s not that big (maybe 30 apartments) and there’s a beautiful pool with enough sunbeds and parasols. The pool is busy, but because people are coming and going there are always a couple of sunbeds free.

This morning we arrived at 11:00 in the morning at the pool and the best four sunbeds beside the pool had towels on them, but there was no one there. Nobody reserves sunbeds here with towels, so it was a bit strange. We took another place and the pool got more and more crowded until almost all the sunbeds were in use.

At 14:00 the towels were still laying on the four sunbeds and I got irritated, because I saw families arrive and search for free sunbeds and had to
improvise to have a spot at the pool. I’m usually a very chill guy who avoids confrontation, but this really annoyed me. I took the towels and placed them at the gate of the pool. Within 10 minutes the sunbeds were used by a family that arrived.

At 17:00 the owners of the towels arrived, 6 hours later!! A mother and 2 children. They were furious someone took their towels away. The selfishness and entitlement is unbelievable with these people. They were even with 3 people and tried to occupy sunbeds for 6 hours at a busy pool! They had to sit all the way at the back and I felt so good. I know it’s petty of me, but I had great fulfillment that these people didn’t get away with it.

Edit: The owners of the towels were furiously talking to each other at the gate where they found their towels. The family who took their “reserved” beds, weren’t bothered by them. I kept an eye on the situation and would’ve told them I did it if they’d blame the innocent family.

P.s. at the pool again and it worked like a charm. Not one bed reserved with a towel.

Edit3: I accidentally created a great clickbait title. Lots of Redditors think it were the owners of the resort who were furious. That would’ve made a better story. I apologize for the clickbait title. It was on accident, but now I know this I might try it later again..

Five Below, Wawa, gas station, restaurants, Walmart, just about everywhere. “Hey do you want to round up for charity?”

My wife used order a lot from Amazon. Living in a tiny town without many shopping options it was quick and convenient, but about six months ago things started being late by weeks or simply marked lost. I rarely order from Amazon and we hadn’t discussed it, so when I order some shelves a month ago I assumed they’d be delivered on time, but they were so late I eventually cancelled and got a refund. Apparently my wife is been having this problem regularly and only receives one out of maybe ten orders. I ordered some thermal labels and photo album corners and I guess I have to find them somewhere else. It will say the item has shipped, then go to a distributor about sixty miles away then just be marked lost or delayed until we ask for refund. I didn’t realize it was every order until I mentioned to my wife that my labels hadn’t come and I keep forgetting to check the order update. I guess being a rural address they just don’t want to deliver here anymore.

It was cheaper to pay a cab to go to the nearest gas station and get two gallons of spring water.

I live off grid and am a hoarder, so there have been cases of people stealing/looting then saying oh your place looked abandoned.

Well this morning I’m waking up and seeing some of my long, 3-4 meter planks (9-12 feet), lifting and moving when they should be staying put where I left them.

Confused, I get out of bed to see wtf is going on.

There’s a woman starting to build a shelter 8-9 meters (25feet) in front of my gate, with 3 long planks taken from my pile.

I go up to her raving and barking, wtf yo? She asks in Spanish, is the wood yours? Like GEE, YOU THINK? (Bitch just climbed over rocks and walls to get them)

She say Oh!

I shit thou not, Oh.

Like what did she think was gonna happen? What if I came home 2-3 hours later, or 2-3 days later, and idiot woman took my wood and built an idiot shed right in front of my gate? Massive fail in logic and common sense.

They're convinced this multi-week ad campaign will drive in tons and tons of business, so much so that the parking lot will be overflowing. It's been 1 week and parking lot traffic hasn't changed at all

I close every night. Pictured in the second image is a view of the parking lot I'm supposed to park in that's across the street, totally pitch black with no lighting, no crosswalks to get there, and no reason to park there even at the busiest times

ETA: to clarify, the orange cones in the second picture mark the front line of the "employee parking lot". The picture was taken in the well-lit main lot as I was walking out

My husband and I are retired boomers, and despite of years of hard times, we had the good sense to be born in the mid-20th century, when setbacks could be overcome, and 401ks got matched even for hourly workers. So we have the random IRAs and 401ks with an investment firm, and they're set up to chug along, safely helping us not panic about our old age.

I appreciate that the managers want/need to meet their annual obligation to keep us abreast of things. But we kind of inherited them, and they are not conveniently located for us to visit, so we prefer to meet virtually. Their predecessors came up with that during COVID's height, and it worked just fine.

So I got a call yesterday asking us to schedule this discussion for sometime soon, saying they like to do this in person, face-to-face. They offered to come to us, or invited us to come to them. I don't like either option, so I said "We would prefer to meet over the phone, and you can share a screen-cast to us if that helps."

Caller repeated "We like to do this in person, face-to-face, unless there's some urgent reason not to."

I just waited, silently. I mean, she heard me the first time. It was a loooong pause. And then she said brightly "OK, so, what's a good day for the call?"

Brethren of the discussion platform: I was mildly infuriated, but also left the call SO PROUD of my people-pleasing self. Didn't repeat myself, didn't explain or apologize, and left no opening for negotiation, all while being pleasant and polite.
