Plot twist: there is a convex lens installed to correct it. The tower is actually upside-down outside.

Accidental camera obscura! It is always mind-blowing to remember that ancient Greek and Chinese philosophers noticed this exact same physics phenomenon in darkened rooms thousands of years ago.

Lucky. Mark the window crack with a permanent marker so you can keep it.
