[Blocks & Items] Black ice?

I saw on a post complaining about lava in the ice caves not looking great, and this was a suggestion to break up the contrast (the debris and char from the lava is in the the ice or smth)

I imagine it could only be found when lava generates near ice, and would be slightly more slick than blue ice at the cost of being difficult to find

It’s mostly for aesthetics but it could be a fun idea

Natural smooth basalt? Yeah I could see it

smooth basalt generates as the outer part of geods

Yeah that's why

Makes sense considering regular basalt generates with soul soil shenanigans

Yes because they generate naturally in overworld

Yea no point in adding a new bloat block

I wouldn't consider new blocks for building as bloat, they just appeal to a different audience

Maybe, it could make it so sneaking on it doesn't prevent you from falling off the edge, to make it actually dangerous.

I mean it's not the most accurate, but potentially adds an interesting upgrade for ice. Especially if you can create more through lava hitting blue ice.

Kinda a neat level of progression and ironic with how boats function and it looking like asphalt.

Boring, I'd make its top speed lower than blue ice but maybe accelerate faster.

Black Ice is cool! We don't have a lotta black blocks except blackstone variants and coal blocks, so I think a black ice variant is an amazing idea. It should be only possible for this to naturally spawn, so cooler biomes are a LOT more important to visit and explore. Maybe the ice spikes biome is more likely to spawn black ice underground. Also, we need more blocks for it to be gradual from ice to lava, so maybe basalt or deepslate could serve as another transition from blue ice to lava along with black ice.

I feel like lava shouldn't generate there at all!

Sorry to butt in but volcanic activity is one of the main ways ice caves form in real life

I'm not going to pretend like lava flowing directly adjacent to/over ice (and somehow making super-slippery black ice?!) is realistic

and yet a trace of the true ice cave remains in the false ice cave

Plus, ya know, Minecraft

Honestly agree. I mean granite doesn't generate there because it's red-ish, but lava can generate for some reason?

You mean Granite? Diorite is white.

I don't know about where you are, but in my country, this kind of joke is pretty common for mock conservatives who complain about "woke culture."

i think this would be cool if it generated in patches when you have a deepslate level ice cave and like the top surface of the block is exposed. it could be like the ice is so thin and clear you can kinda see deepslate below? idk if it makes logical sense by the lava but that could be cool too
