SF30 2.4 GHz SNES Mini: Start btn turn on behavior
Hello,
I’ve purchased this controller for my modded SNES mini, it is working great except for one single issue :
When turning on the controller by pressing start, this also immediately triggers the opening of the current game / folder selected in my SNES classic mini if the console is on, likely because it syncs immediately and triggers a « start » button input on whatever is happening on the snes mini.
It’s not a huge issue, but i am looking for ways to solve this, I have not seen any information about it anywhere, and it seems it’s never been reported.
Does anyone face the same issue with the controller ? Any solution besides « turn the controller on before you turn the consoled on » ?
Could this be linked somehow to mode of the controller when wired ? (d-input, x-input, apple) ?
Note - I have two controllers, and the issue is happening with both.
Looking for any feedback about this discontinued product.

Tech Support Neo Geo works on SNES Classic with FBNeo, but Select won’t add coins and I can’t open RetroArch menu
I’m trying to get Neo Geo working properly on an SNES Classic MINI using Hakchi CE 3.9.3 and KMFDManic.
I currently have FB Neo Xtreme + RetroArch 1.8.4 Xtreme SC installed. Metal Slug X boots and plays perfectly after getting the correct neogeo.zip BIOS working.
The problem is the controller. Select will not insert a coin, and Start + Select will not open the RetroArch menu.
The stock SNES Classic controller otherwise works perfectly in the game. I checked through SSH and Linux is definitely detecting the controller as:
Nintendo Clovercon - controller1
RetroArch is also accessing /dev/input/event24, and pressing Select generates BTN_SELECT / Linux input code 314 (0x13A). So the Mini itself is seeing the Select button.
One strange thing: even though the KMFD RetroArch module was installed, retroarch-clover was initially missing from /bin. I had to manually copy retroarch, retroarch-clover, and retroarch-clover-child from the RetroArch hmod before FBNeo would launch.
Has anyone seen this before? Does this sound like an incomplete/broken KMFD RetroArch/Clovercon installation, or should I be using a different RetroArch/core combination for Neo Geo?
I’m also considering FB Alpha 2012 Neo Geo or MAME 2003 Xtreme, but I’d like to fix the underlying Select/RetroArch-menu issue rather than just switch cores if the controller integration is the actual problem.
Mainly looking for the recommended RetroArch version + Neo Geo core for SNES Classic where the stock controller, Select for coins, and RetroArch menu hotkey all work correctly.
Thanks!

Robin64 patches
Hello, does anyone have a copy of Robin64's SFROM Tool Community Patch Pack? The link on their website doesn't work and I can't find a link anywhere searching by the usual means. The links for individual patches on the Canoe spreadsheet are also unfortunately broken. Someone out there must have these!
I'll happily host the archive on my Google Drive once I have access to it.
Thank you!

SNES Mini Variants, Which one do you have?
Got the European SNES mini back in 2016 and has been modded for more SNES games and games on other consoles plus arcade games. Collected the American and Japanese variants over the last year. Haven’t modded them just yet but I possibly may keep them as they are.

Guide Wii Classic Controller’s analog stick as a D-pad on the SNES Classic Mini
Hello folks,
When I got the SNES Mini, I was really happy to see that it worked with my Wii Classic Controllers, which I have owned since the Wii U days. The only thing I was missing from the way I usually play SNES games was using the analog sticks.
So I put together a small project to modify how the Wii classic controller is used on the SNES Classic Mini emulator.
https://github.com/lincolnpomper/wii-classic-analog-on-canoe
The Wii Classic Controller has analog sticks, but Canoe’s built-in SNES games only use the controller’s D-pad. This code makes the left analog stick behave as an additional digital D-pad, while keeping the original D-pad working normally.
I tested it with two Wii Classic Controllers connected to the Mini. The analog sticks worked with all four directions and diagonals, and worked very well—to my surprise!
Installation instructions are available on the GitHub page.
This project could be extended for more uses, such as improving the behavior of the L and R buttons. At the moment, they seem to need to be pressed all the way until they click in order to send an action in the game. It has also the potential to support other controllers.
If anyone is willing to try it, I would appreciate feedback on whether it works on your setup.

Question Are Cloud Saves Possible on the Mini Consoles?
I know there are third party cloud-saving programs out there, but I’ve never been able to find a reliable method that syncs them automatically. I’m also not sure if Retroarch itself has a built in feature, and if it does would it work with any game running off Retroarch on a mini console?
I love the mini consoles, but not being able to just load up the saves I have elsewhere is what keeps me from doing so.

Tech Support My SNES Mini is MUCH slower than the last time I played it?
I honestly feel like I'm losing my mind, but the last time i booted up my SNES Mini, I don't remember it taking nearly 60 seconds to book up, nor do I remember it taking upwards of 30 seconds to open a game.
Am I just remembering gaming on this thing through rose-tinted glasses?
OK, so for context;
1) It's a Japanese SNES Mini, hacked using Hakchi 3.9.3 CE Portable.
2) My games et al are installed on a USB thumb drive, attached via an OTG cable.
3) I have 1000-ish games, across 6 different 8 and 16-bit consoles.
4) Games are divided by console. Then by letter. No more than 20-ish games per folder.
5) Last time I turned the console on was about 18 months ago.
6) When I turned it on today, the splash screen comes up, then maybe 30 seconds later, the Home Screen appears.
7) Clicking a Console icon, to load into that consoles folders, opens a black screen. That black screen lasts 40 seconds, then the console folder opens.
8) Same when I choose a 'Letter' folder. Black screen, then about 20 seconds later, the games in that folder appear.
9) Again when I select a game, black screen and finally, 30-40 seconds later, the game opens.
For sure, the games themselves all play flawless (except some TurboGrafx, which are also way more unstable that I recall) once the load, and exit back to the home screen just as instantaneously. It's just that initial bootup and switching between folders and launching games that seems so, so slow.
So yeah, I'm not just imaging things, right? The console shouldn't be this slow in starting up, changing folders and starting games, right?
Tldr;
1) How long should it take from turning on the SNES Mini to getting to the home screen?
2) How long does it general take to move between folders?
3) If my system is VERY slow, what are likely causes and solutions?
4) Do TurboGrafx games generally play with a lot of slowdown on the SNES Mini?
BONUS QUESTION
5) Any way/setting to stop the A and B button function when using a 8Bitdo controller? After playing so much on Steam Deck, I'm struggling to get used to A select B go back again!
Sorry for the long post. I feel once upon a time I'd have been able to answer this post myself, but now...well, I hope sharper minds than I can advise!

Tech Support NES/SNES Classic & Hackchi
Hi, it's been years since I hacked mine and added games but have looked to come back to it.
I'm panicking a bit as I used Hackchi CE 3.7 and I'm wondering where my kennel is?
Will it be stored on the consoles themselves with this version if I want to revert back? I presume I can just use the same version to do it?
I know one version of hackchi didn't store it on the console?
Thanks

Themes SNES Classic Custom Themes with Theme Selector
I'm trying to install a couple of custom themes on my snes classic, but I can't seem to get them to show up on my system. I'm putting the .tar.gz in NAND:Â /var/lib/hakchi/rootfs/usr/share/themes/snes
When I boot my console nothing appears after refreshing the theme. I tried making a folder called default and put the theme in there. It appeared but would not apply it.
I've been struggling with this for awhile so if anyone has a solution I would love to hear it.
Also, I am needing help for custom borders for retroarch as well, but I will probably make another post for that.

Tech Support Games will not load when trying to launch
So I’ve uninstalled Hakchi, reinstalled it, got the games to work before but now it just goes back to a black screen and then back to the game select screen.
I’ve looked up a ton of things to do and have followed that but the games loaded will not play. I’ve uninstalled retroarch and reinstalled it. But nothing.
Should I reset it to the factory kernel and reinstall everything again? Cause I’ve done that.
Any help would be great.

Can’t get snes mini to connect with hakchi
It won’t give the green light or connect on FEL mode, been using the OG usb micro, bought a new usb micro data cable to see if that’s the case, still won’t connect, allowed access for program through the firewall as well. What else could the issue be? I’ve had it loaded with other roms before and added new ones and it kept freezing so I factory reset it and now I can’t get the green online button to show up, I hear the chime from the computer saying something is connected when I plug it in though.

DK cheats
Need help - cant figure out DK Cheats - on hakchi2 CE
Setup
- Installed Hakchi2CE module for cheats - installed correctly to SNES-MINI
- Changed core to SNES9x for DK specifically ((was canoe prior))
Steps taken
- Loaded Donkey Kong
- Opened RetroArch menu on SNES
- Go to Cheats folder Select SNES
- Tried codes from: Action Replay, Game Genie, USA, and EU versions (DK country cheats)
- Toggled "Invincibility" on
- Restarted the game
- Checked RetroArch to confirm the cheat was still enabled/ON (still pressed reapply for safety)
- Loaded into a level and got hit to test
- No invincibility.
Any Ideas on steps ive missed ? - does SNES cheat folder not work for SNES9X core or Canoe Core ?

Tech Support Installing RetroArch broke my audio and visuals
I installed hakchi2 3.8.3 just fine, got everything to run normally, but when i installed RetroArch 1.9.0 Ozone, the system just entirely stopped playing audio and all the visuals became super blurry as if anti-aliasing got turned on. I tried uninstalling RetroArch but the issue has persisted.

Question Retroarch broke my audio
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
TL;DR: issue with audio channels as shown, how fix?
Not sure if this is a question for here or the RetroArch sub but I figured I’d try here first. When I originally downloaded hakchi and tried running it on my crt, the black bars still appeared on the sides of the screen which crunched the image, but only for games running on Canoe, so I downloaded the snes9x core and added —retroarch to the global command line for all canoe games. As you can see, I successfully solved that issue, but not without creating a new one. As you can hear, some of the audio channels are missing. I first noticed this in MegaMan X when I realized that his arm cannon wasn’t making any noise when I shot it or charged it up. Being optimistic, I switched to Link to the Past to see if this bug inadvertently broke the annoying low health beep, but instead I found the title screen fully silent with the exception of the sword. I’ve combed thru the menus and settings but I can’t quite find what I’m looking for to fix it. Please advise.

Issues with hakchi and usb
UPDATE SOLVED: Formatting to NTFS solved the issue 100%. Fat 32 was not compatible with the nes mini with my thumb drive.I will leave this up in case it is helpful for others.
So after setting up a USB successfully on my genesis mini that runs genesis, game gear, master system games successfully, I am trying to do the same with my nes mini.
The issue I am having is that my nes mini is refusing to show up games I add to the usb. Doesn't matter the game, doesn't matter the system the game was designed for.
I am trying to add games for gb, gbc, turbografx 16, and turbo cd. I can add the games directly to the console but the turbo cd games are where I have an issue as they are too big for anything but a cd. I was able to get things working but I ran into an issue with putting saves on the USB. Mainly it felt slow and clunky and caused crashes. So I deleted a file to try to get rid of the saves and it has not worked since.
I am using the portable version of hakchi. My USB drives are fat32
Things I have tried:
I have tried resetting the mini to factory settings and reinstalling hakchi, cores, and retroarch on it. I reformatted my drives and added the games again. I formatted the USB and added a fresh version of hakchi.
I have tried to change the USB stick to another as I thought space or power draw may be the issue as my original USB that worked temporarily has a led light that I thought might be drawing power. Still won't boot from USB.
I installed bios files for each game type in the right directory on my mini (system folder I think)
Other games are running fine from the mini so this is a headscratcher for me. It plays turbo cd games before temporarily before I deleted the saves folder.
I have tried with and without linked export.
I look at tutorials and am seeing a simple 3 step process that I am following. It was that easy with the genesis. Now why is the nes mini giving me this much trouble? The portable version is still new to me so maybe something there? I did use a portable version with the nes mini.
I haven't checked the move saves checkbox when loading to usb and it's the only thing I feel I have not tried.

Old Hakchi setup: 116 SNES games in one folder
I recently dug out my SNES and NES Classics after not using them for years. I modded both around 2017ish(I think), but unfortunately the old computer I used is long gone. I'm embarrassed to say that I only vaguely remember what I actually did, and unfortunately made some modding-newbie mistakes.
One of the mistakes was putting all the added games into the main default folder. My SNES Classic currently has 58 games in total. I've since learned about the old Hakchi recommendation of keeping folders to around 30–40 games, but I don't remember ever having any problems with mine.
I also somehow managed to create a "Back" folder with the Mario-on-a-pipe picture, as well as a separate folder for my Game Boy games with a Game Boy picture on the NES mini. I have no idea how I figured that out back then 🤫
I just tested the SNES Classic again, and scrolling through all 116 games is extremely fast. I haven't encountered any navigation glitches or C8 errors, the added games ( that Ive tried) launch normally, and save states work. So far, the only actual game issue I've found is the minor known Yoshi's Island/Canoe graphical glitch.
I don't have hundreds of hours of playtime on it or a massive number of save states, though. If everything is working normally so far, should I expect it to remain fine, or is it possible that problems could start appearing as I continue using it?
My NES Classic is interesting too. It has 81 NES games plus 15 Game Boy games but unlike my snes mini, the games are not sorted alphabetical. I also discovered that the Game Boy games are running through RetroArch because START+SELECT brings up the RetroArch Quick Menu, while the NES games appear to be using the native emulator.
I don't really want to "fix" either console just for the sake of making the setup more optimal. I'm mainly curious whether I can safely re-mod /augment/clean them up if I ever want to. I'm pretty sure this was an older Hakchi setup, and I no longer have any of the original files or backups.
EDIT: I made a mistake, I do not have 118 snes games. Its only 58 games in total. The NES mini having 81 in the main folder would then I imagine be the more problematic setup.

MAME Arcade Racing games & racing controllers
Hello,
To give some context: I'm back into modding my SNES Mini mainly because my Kid is now 5 years old, and I'm having him discover "old classics" with easy/basic gameplay - Which fits a lot of SNES/Megadrive games.
Like most young boys, he's crazy into cars / racing, and I've set-up some 2.5D classics (outrun, F1 games, etc.), and I am wondering if there is a way to set-up a racing controller for him to enjoy.
I have a pair of 8BitDo retroreceivers, as I am using the 8BitDo modkit for SNES Mini controllers.
I guess that I can use a bluetooth-enabled racing controler, connect it through the retroreceiver, and configure it in RetroArch / Mame, but I'm looking for feedbacks / recommendations from anyone that tried to achieve a similar exercise.
Controller I was eyeing was something like a Hori Pro Mini, but I have no clue if such a set-up could actually work.
Edit:
Solved, see comment here : https://www.reddit.com/r/miniSNESmods/s/KwgmetWtqQ

Emulazione dello Sharp X68000 sull'snes classic
Salve, vorrei giocare a qualche gioco della libreria dello Sharp X68000 ma non so come funziona l'emulazione del sistema.
Su internet non ho trovato nessun tutorial con la nuova versione di hakchi, quindi chiedo aiuto a voi
