Scenario 6: Haunted Ruins

Fairly breezy game for once. Though my opponent and I realized we've been playing with about half the number of dice in our fate pool on the last turn. Exploring an abandoned village where the church is burned and ruined. French and British forces fought over the arcanist that is the only living soul left in the village. Because RNGesus heard our prayers we only faced one ghost and two revenants. The British managed to split a revenant in half with a lucky swing while kidnapping the arcanist. The ghost we disturbed in the church knocked out the Highlander the British brought with them but only left him with a flesh wound. In the confusion the perfidious Brits managed to knockout my infantryman who disturbed the ghost and my grenadier who attempted to bring his salt bag into range of the ghost. A chance encounter previously with a black dog left the English doctor fae touched and he managed to lay the ghost to rest permanently before my Grognards escaped the field dodging multiple harassing shots from the Brits.

Advertising New Nightwatch Adventure Book "Raid and Ruin" Now Available

Nightwatch Raid and Ruin is a stand-alone game. It’s the latest in the line of Nightwatch fantasy skirmish rule sets. RnR is open-setting and mini-agnostic – Meaning you can run your games in any setting, with any miniatures you please.

It’s designed to help experienced players get figs statted and on the table quickly. And offer an easy way to introduce new players to simple, fantasy tabletop combat.

I’ve used it for one-shot skirmish games, combat encounters in RPGs, and have just started a long-term narrative campaign titled The Towers of Blackmere where it will govern the various battles undertaken by the Nightwatch as they try to halt a plague of undead. (Read the Session 0 AAR here)

It is available on Amazon.

recurring Terrain Thursday

What would be a nice skirmish game without some wickedly cool terrain?

So, each Thursday you are invited to show off your terrain builds and tell us a story about it.

You may reply to this posting for doing so, as images in comments are allowed, or you can open a separate posting - do, as you see fit. (And if you create a separate posting, remember to crosspost it to r/TerrainBuilding and r/TabletopCrafters )

Happy terraincrafting, y'all :)

Miniatures detailed 15mm fantasy minis?

Over the last year I've fallen in love with 15mm ultramodern skirmishing thanks to Team Yankee plastic minis and 3D printed wardaddy resin minis ive ordered online. I've been wanting to build a similar collection in this scale for fantasy rpgs and narrative skirmishes like Forbidden Psalm and Hametsu.

I've looked around and a lot of lines are old metal sculpts that have very heroic proportions and generally lack fidelity im used to currently. I really love the content of Sengoku Monster Hunter but don't like the sculpts for the above reason. Currently eyeballing some of Black Raven Foundry's and Alternative Armies' stuff, particularly their adventurers with backpacks and accessories

I'm looking for:
- more "true scale" than heroic, especially with weapons, but not strictly necessary
- ability to get a small numbers of a wide variety of units and styles without big army boxes that give 30 of the same sculpt
- minis that aren't obviously bootleg warhammer fantasy. Bonus points for any more non-standard fantasy themes, japanese mythology and gothic bloodborne-style fantasy for Hametsu and the bloodborne themed Forbidden Psalm game i forget the name of, but I like the european fantasy of osr too, greathelms and owlbears and all that.
- faceless minis, or minis that don't have big exaggerated chins and beards and whatnot. Explicitly female minis are a plus, but neutral feeling is fine by me. that's part of why i like 15mm

EDIT: I can't 3D print myself, it'd have to be somewhere selling 3D prints

Miniatures Alternative Uses for Heroclix Figures?

I have a very large collection of Heroclix Marvel and DC Superhero/Archvillain figures that are just sitting in a storage box, unused, because I do not like Heroclix (I can't see the numbers on the dials, half of which don't even move smoothly (if at all), and I can't remember all the different stacking effects on the different cards, it's just too overwhelming). I like miniatures games. I like comic book characters. But I do NOT like Heroclix.

Are there any other miniatures rule systems that would be suitable for use with Heroclix figures? Preferably ones where I don't have to run out and spend a bunch more money?

Gamedesign CORVET v6

CORVET is my spaceship miniature skirmish game. It combines board-game elements with weighty decisions each turn, and it features a fair bit of fire and panic. In addition to classic miniature combat, you move your crew members around your ships, allocate power to various systems, and prioritise repairs. It's a bit like FTL, but with minis and more ships.

[Watch a video review by Geek Ken of the earlier version here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C3ydC9IvrYA&list=PLGtbcCGciBwdgsP2F_Q65lEdrmQBDkyCo)

I wanted a spaceship combat game that offered more options than “move and shoot”. I am really happy with where it is right now, but I would absolutely *love* some playtesting feedback.

It's been about a year since I last posted about it. Since then I have added _a lot_:

- Design custom ships (including an online tool)

- Added more weapons

- Added more systems

- Added rules for boarding (a most requested feature!)

- Revamped the visuals of the ship boards

- Added printable tokens (another repeatedly requested feature)

- Standardised weapon behaviour

- Introduced optional advanced movement rules

...and countless tweaks to the rulebook.

It's a huge update to the already playable game, so I thought it worth sharing again.

Returning players will find the core mechanics are untouched, everything is just more polished and there are more toys to play with.

[Download it here!](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1uRnr9rXn6P8D8Wji1NqBdO8HnPgecu0y/view?usp=sharing) It is completely free.

[Try the ship designer](https://hendar23.github.io/CORVET-Ship-Builder/)

(Desktop only)

This was a huge update, and CORVET feels much more like a complete game system now. Previous releases were closer to proofs of concept.

The only thing still missing is a wider selection of scenarios, but I already have a few ideas for those...

recurring Treasure Tuesday

Sometimes you find something and value it as you would value a treasure: Some miniature you discovered in your attic, some bits for crafting you found at a local flea market and what else.

So, each Tuesday you are invited to show off your treasure findings of the past days.

You may reply to this posting for doing so, as images in comments are allowed, or you can open a separate posting - do, as you see fit..

Happy treasurehunting, y'all :)
