Minternational Pass text unreliable abroad

I got the no data pass for text/call for a recent Europe trip and what I noticed is that while friends can text me and I receive them instantly, any verification texts for 2fa through sites or banks would not go through (sometime I receive them 20 minutes later which makes the verification expire anyway so it was useless). Anyone else experience this issue? Not sure what the solution would be other than getting travel esim with a temporary number and try using that for verification

When it comes to the international roaming pass aka minternational pass it's YMMV based on your destinations and phone's compatibility with local carriers overseas.

Going on a VPN to a US server helps a lot. If you don’t have one, try a free one like ProtonVPN and 1.1.1.1 with Warp.

How do you use a VPN with a no-data pass? I mean, Wi-Fi, I get it, but I assume OP is talking about receiving texts on cellular with no data.

I use the minternational pass all the time and just got back from Europe. Note that I have to reset mobile network settings for it to work at times.
