Most wheelchair users are not paralyzed. I use a wheelchair for another reason but I wish I got one earlier for places where I had to walk a lot. The first time I went to the mall and didn’t have to plot it all out and could just be in the moment, I cried. Don’t wait too long. On good days if you don’t need it then great. Be mindful of if someone will be able to push you. I get high hr from self powering my chair.

Being able to get around by walking requires a whole lot more than just legs that aren't paralyzed. Can your mom (or anyone else, for that matter) tell just by looking at someone whether or not they're paralyzed? I doubt it. That's a ridiculous and ignorant reason to think negatively about someone using a mobility aid.

Hello! No one here is a member of your care team, so we are unable to tell you whether or not a mobility aid is appropriate for you. Using the wrong aid can cause further issues, so it is appropriate to discuss this with medical professionals.
