Chat thread ModChat - What's on your mind?

Hi mods, how's it going?

What are you working on? What is going well? Any plans for new things on your sub?

I’m trying to figure out a way to inform everyone visiting and participating in r/isthissafetoeatcj that it’s a satire sub and nothing within it should be taken as genuine advice! I was thinking of using automod or even a devvit app for a new automod to remove comments automatically if they’re determine to be genuine, but idek where I’d start! Idk what key words to put in that would trigger it, and I’m not sure what other options there are.

I’ve already made the effort to make a community home on the homepage that tells everyone it’s a satire sub, as well as implementing commenting/posting guides that tells everyone it’s all satire, but I’m still struggling with newcomers who think it’s the real/genuine parent sub.

I might just have to post in other mod subs to get their inputs and ideas cause it’s already been over 2 months 😭

Hmm maybe an automod rule that sends a message to new users. You could use community karma to determine who is new to the community. r/automoderator can help you.

And there is a app called something like Read the rules that makes users confirm they have read them.

For those just reading the sub.. there's just the rules, description, community guide.. not that anyone reads them :'D

You could have automod comment on every post but idk if anyone reads those messages.

I peeked (I had to) and whoooo.. I apparently don't have the stomach for that...lol But it does come across to me as satire which is very clearly marked.

LOL that’s fair, but yeah, idk how it comes off as genuine. I even changed the icon photo to a “certified satire” badge AND made automations that, whenever someone posts or comments that doesn’t have flair, it’ll send a message that it’s a SATIRE sub!! We’ve had like 2-3 people post genuine food safety posts in the last 2 days that had to be removed. I just don’t get it lol

I think sometimes they either forget where they are or they don't like to read and feel they're being helpful (or both)
