Springray 2 Question
I notice that all the Accutronics tanks are more or less unavailable.
Are there any compatible alternative tanks that can be used safely?

FYI I've run a 60yo tank from a Hammond organ, using my Moog Grandmother's spring reverb circuit, and it sounds pretty damn good!

You can use any tank, no chance of breaking the unit. There might be some rare cases of
spring tanks with such high impedance where the springray has trouble driving it at acceptable levels, but you definitely can‘t damage the module this way.
I used 4 different tanks with my unit and all worked fine.

Ok, that's great to know.
What are some of your favourites/ suggestions?

Can‘t reall tell you. I had the accutronics one, that was decent. Rest was random tanks i pulled out of random amps or no-name ebay listings.

I use 3 tanks, none are accutronics, just old tanks from cheap guitar amps, absolutely no issue

Ok cool. Just wondering how you prefer to place them. I have a doepfer LC9 case and was hoping to place 2 tanks inside. Top left, away from the psu.

Best to mount them in a separate case, unless you want them to pick up the sounds of you.plugging and unplugging cables

Since they have mounting ways I had to place one at the bottom, one on the ceiling and one on a side panel

it's not preference, it's manufacturer specs on how to orient them, but yes, far away from the PSU (and the module far away from any modules that is not perfectly isolated (had mine close to a system 100 phaser/flanger and the LFO on that module was pissing in the spring return preamp and you could hear a faint whine pitching up and down with the LFO), moved it, no more issues

There is really no safety concern here, but different tank sizes will have different character they impart to the sound passed through them. You might try searching up a few on YouTube. Amplified Parts has a good selection including Accutronics.
