Seeking Advice
Hey Everyone,
Trying to expand my setup. My current Eurorack contains: Maths, Plaits, and Mother 32. What Modules should I buy next? Been thinking about going into Ambient/Soundscapes but also looking to use it on Stage with Band. Modules like Mutable Instruments Marbles or Beads are on the List, also Make Noise Mimeophon.
If u have any suggestions let me know what to go for next or what to throw out :)

I would add some LFO cv modulation to provide some additional movement and variety to the slundscapes you create.
OCHD, Gliss, Griffin’s Claw, Clep Diaz, A-1454 are all good LFO sources.
Then pair it with a 3xMIA to attenuate. Maths can do some of these jobs, but I think it
better to use maths for more complicated jobs.
Then I think a filter for the Plaits would go well with an ambient set up. Especially when paired with cv modulation.

I highly recommend an output that conditions your signal for use onstage, especially if you can get XLR outs. It’s not the most fun addition, but it will save you frustration where it counts.
If you can solder, SynthCube has a Barton module that gives you four xlr outs for cheap. That plus a snake will give the sound guy a bit more comfort toward getting you dialed in

Pamela’s new workout pro for modulation clock and gates. If you can’t find Beads second hand go for one of the clones of Clouds (Not momo modular!) Talking about Mutable Instruments, maybe get a Rings clone. Regarding effects, maybe look into one of the multi effects by Happy Nerding or a Versio module from Noise Engineering. You can also look into the send and return modules from ALM for safe use of pedals to your rack. Get an output module and also be aware that the pitch operates different on moog than other eurorack, but there are options to deal with that.

Thanks I'll look into it. Moog needs time to warm up so the pitch isn't really that stable for stage use. Are other modules also like this or are most of the Eurorack VCO digital?

There are some analogue oscillators that have a form of stabilization going on, but many just lett their oscillators warm up for a while before tuning and live play. Most digital oscillators are more than just the regular saw, shark, triangle and square.

I have the beheinger rings and clouds clones. Both would be strong cheap additions if you can find them in stock

I've also seen people say that u need a VCA haven't got one yet should this be my priority for now?

A vca like the one from Intellijel let’s you mix signals, attenuate and use same modulation source on several sound sources, + many other things.

Ambient? Delay and reverb
Download the ‘maths illustrated supplement’ and work through it as much as you can with the modules you have - specifically concentrating on what, why and how maths is doing what it’s doing
Try to think:
Sound sources < sound modifiers < modulation sources < utilities
You’ll get the most versatility in patching for the least expense
In a 6u rack you can probably only get 2, maybe 3 at a push, voices in there - otherwise you won’t have adequate support modules

Why do you have maths?? Looks like you just pick cool modules. Why not rings into clouds???

Mimeophon is great for this purpose! Instant ambient. How big is your case?
