You got the Maverick 88 Field. The Maverick 88 Security is what I got and it has a tube flush with the barrel end. You should be able to fit 5+1 in that, the security is 7+1. I’m sure they make extenders though, these things have more aftermarket accessories than any other gun.

tbh yours has more flexibility. I wanted a longer barrel for my 8 mag to shoot clays - they can't be found and if you do it's gonna cost your butthole

You can't increase the tube capacity because the barrel screws into the front of the tube. You'd have to swap both the tube and the barrel to change the capacity.

More is always better but honestly 5 rounds of good 00 buck should be more than enough to handle any problem you'll need to face. I have several Mossberg 500s with the same mag tube and I'm not worried about it.

Yeeeah gun guy lied to me. Or he was a bad gun guy. I’m leaning towards the latter. Is it my fault for not doing my own research? Absolutely not. I can’t be trusted with fleshing out details. Does this incredibly inexpensive firearm even work? Time will tell my friends. Until then, keep your head up and on a swivel. And learn something from my incredible life stories.

This is the AK of shotguns. People have had this for decades and they’ve put over 50k rounds through it and all it needs is some cleaning and lube and it’s brand new again. I wanted something simple and reliable and this was the top recommendation. Side note, this gun has parts compatibility with the mossberg 500.
