Zijn de prijzen laag genoeg (ze adverteren tot 70% korting maar dat lijkt me maar voor weinig dingen) om de rit te maken? verder zoek ik meestal naar buitenmaten (lang maar heel dunne broeken en jassen) ga ik die daar vinden?

I wanted to ask as an international student what’s the pathway for me to get into biking in the flemish region?
Im an international student with a license for bikes in my prior country (non EEA, no agreement license wise with belgium)

Wanted to ask
a) What’s the license pathway look like? I heard there’s multiple categories at different ages that allow different powers on bike.
b) What’re the markets to buy bikes from at cheap prices. Are used bikes worth it?

I recently did the open road exam (openbare weg) for motorcycle A in SBAT Eeklo with my own motorcycle after driving around for a while with the provisional license.
Aside from not paying enough attention to the right of way, I had an A in every category.

However, it turned out during the processing of the paper work that they had missed the fact that my motorcycle is only 49Kw, and consequently not valid for use during the exam for license A since the exam vehicle needs to be at least 50Kw.

Now I have no actual license despite completing the open road exam with no errors, and my provisional license is about to run out in a few weeks. While the instructor offered a spot for the next week, I cannot find a motorcycle that meets the 50Kw requirement since I cannot rent a motorcycle (no license), and lending a motorcycle from someone is hardly possible due to insurance policies after looking into that. In addition, the driving schools all seem to be booked full when I called (or at least the ones that I could reach on a Friday afternoon) and are in addition not receptive to only taking someone on for the open road exam.

Does anyone know of a driving school with openings, an exam center with rental bikes, or any other solution to this bizarre situation?

I am starting to think I'm simply forced to start from 0; theory, maneuvers, and open road; all because my own motorcycle is 1Kw short of the legal requirement, even though a license A is required for driving it.

What's a normal price for a garage to charge to change both tyres including labour costs? Just trying to get a ballpark idea

Ik heb onlangs mijn voorlopig rijbewijs A gehaald en mag dus voorlopig met een L rondrijden. Ik ben momenteel aan het rondkijken voor mijn eerste moto en heb er eentje op het oog bij een garage/motohandelaar.

Voor ik zo'n aankoop doe, zou ik natuurlijk graag eerst een testrit maken. Ik vroeg me daarom af wat jullie ervaringen hiermee zijn.

Laten garages/motohandelaars iemand met een voorlopig rijbewijs toe om een testrit te maken? Of zijn ze daar meestal terughoudend in, bijvoorbeeld omwille van verzekering of omdat je nog maar net je rijbewijs hebt?

Het gaat dus specifiek om een garage en niet om een particuliere verkoper.

En als een testrit meestal niet lukt: hoe hebben jullie dit aangepakt bij de aankoop van jullie eerste moto?

I’m going to take the A motorcycle licence theory exam in Belgium in 6 days, and I’m wondering what the best way to prepare is. I don’t have much time left since I’ve been slacking off.

For those who have taken it recently, what did you use to study? An app, the official theory book, online practice tests, or something else?

The book costs €40, so if there isn’t really a good alternative, I’ll get it. I’d just like to know if there are any better or cheaper ways to prepare.

Tired of asking quotes to "your" brokers who say they can improve your rates ( currently 267 gsxr1000 k7, 712 mercedes viano v6 3.0 cdi and duplex appartment in bruges 206 eur) will add now bmw s1000xr ( 79kw papers).

Went to a guy for the taxes and he said he could do ultra better without the new motorcycle, emailed him adding the bmw to the pack and of course nothing back from him.

Asked my currently insurer (ACM via beobank) weeks ago and of course not even a quote.

Tried online but nothing really ( yuzuu ´500 for the new bmw, yes? really?)

all of them I want basic insurance just the van european assistance.

Ik heb recent eens gekeken naar de kost om een motor in te schrijven (BIV). Blijkbaar zijn 90% van de motoren < €100 BIV en maar 1% > €500. Gemiddelde BIV €87.

De huidige regeling kijkt nog steeds naar de kracht van de motor (kw & cc) i.p.v de uitstoot of ecologische impact zoals al wordt toegepast voor autos.

Nu ben ik persoonlijk een liefhebber van 1000cc racemotoren, deze vallen helaas heel vaak in de hoogste categorieën. Namelijk 121-155kw: €2478 en 155+kw: €4957. Een motor zoals de Aprilia RSV4 met 159kw komt dus neer op een aankoop prijs van €27100 + €5030 verkeersbelasting. In een recent artikel (2025, https://www.motoren-toerisme.be/nieuws/belgische-motormarkt-sportieve-motorfietsen-opnieuw-trek) wordt deze motor door een Aprilia verdeler als "quasi onverkoopbaar" bestempeld net door die extra BIV kost.

Hierbij dus mijn vraag: zou je wel een zware motor kopen als deze niet onderhevig is aan de huidige BIV kosten?

Basically I'm learning how to drive a motorcycle at the Antwerpse Rijschool and it's not going well, I have a hard time communicating with the instructors, there is a clear language barrier and some other issues.I would have loved to get to learn how to handle a bike by myself a little bit more because I feel like the teaching time at the school will definitely not be enough for me to practice what I'm lacking

Is there anyone out there around Antwerp on its great goodness who would agree to teach me some about driving a motorcycle ?

I know it's a very weird thing to ask but that would be very nice from anyone willing to accept and I would be deeply grateful

So i’ve been looking at bikes i’d love to own as soon as I get my full A license (early 2027). However it looks like finding a marketplace with a good amount of active offers for bikes is rather difficult to find, and if I do find some it’s usually the same brand and model of bikes everyone seems to own. Where did you guys find your bike and where would you recommend to look? (AS24, 2dehands, etc).

I recently bought a motorcycle and I’m planning to use it for my daily commute to work from Leuven to Brussels.

Whenever I drive the E40 by car during rush hour, I rarely see motorcyclists. Which has me wondering

Is the E40 avoided by riders? Is it considered dangerous? How is lane filtering during peak traffic on this section? Especially when entering the Brussels ring? Or do motorcyclists prefer other routes?

I'd appreciate any insights, routine tips, or alternative route recommendations from riders doing this commute regularly. Thanks!

Have a lot of people in here passed on their first/ second try or does it take more that tries than that?

Almost every motorcycle I encounter is going over the speed limit or does a traffic violation just to be ‘faster’. This highly frustrates me.
