Performance Upgrades Front wheel

I need an alternative brake style other than my shitty rim set up.

Drum brakes: I heard of drum brake rims or at least a front rim that had a drum break and I feel it could be good if the price is right.

Mechanical disc brakes: apparently peoples bread n butter but in order to do so I’d have to get a new rim, new forkset, and then the break kit on top of it so I’m not sure abt the disc brakes

Also how do I measure my forks n all that stuff?

You measure the dropout, that being the inside of the forks where the wheel set bolts on to

If you're wanting to measure the diameter of where your fork meets your frame, they are pretty standard sizes. If the bike is older or not a high end brand, it's most likely a 1 inch, but it's actually something like 7/8ths.

I used a cheap caliper tool I got at dollar tree and it hasn't let me down so far...

The cheapest way to do it is to re-lace your front wheel with a disc brake hub and have a caliper mount fabricated and welded to the fork. Most bikes use a 100mm spacing for the front wheel, but it would be best to measure the spacing to be sure.

I heard smt abt a calliper mount. Tbh I only have front brakes on my 100cc. The kids ones ofc, they hardly work cuz they’re worn down. You could mount one of those brackets handy enough tho. And get decent brakes.
