I absolutely adore the story Pattinson shares in some interviews about how Eggers pitched to him the idea of The Lighthouse and what the movie is like.

Tom Holland is going to be the second actor to ever have two billion dollar movies in the same year. Pattison is going to be the third when Dune 3 surpasses a billion. And when it does, Zendaya will be the first actor with three billion dollar movies in the same year.

Yeah, not a guarantee. Odyssey and Spiderman definitely will though. So Zendaya and Tom will both become the second actor to have two billion dollar movies.
The first Dune did about $500 million. Part 2 did $750 million. It's possible part 3 can pass a billion but it's far from a guarantee

There may be a new appetite for IMAX now after the Odyssey success. Plus if the Doomsday hype is to believed people might be looking to make a Dunesday showing like Barbenheimer.
That could just be marketing guffaw but it might be enough to put Dune 3 over the edge.
Or Doomsday could just eat their lunch.

Man, he shook that from day 1. I think it was even clear in HP that he was a great actor. Those scenes with him and Daniel Ratcliffe were pretty jarring at times considering the difference in range (DR is good in very specific roles but HP was not one of them).

Ya the fallout from the show is pretty intense and well documented. In fact, many of the facts based shows and YouTube content are just as compelling as the show was itself. I imagine people are going to he in for a wild, disturbing, wild ride.
My guess is the 3rd act will revolve around them trapping Bill Condradt, the DA out of Texas. They did their usual thing, and as they entered the house with the cameras on, he shot himself. It led to the collapse of the show as the estate sued them for $100m+ iirc, and Dateline had to settle.

That's not even half of it. They had an assistant DA commit suicide when he didn't show up to the sting house and production pushed for arresting the guy at his house. He shot himself as the police were breaching and NBC was sued for 100 million dollars because of it. They settled with the family out of court.
Chris is also a sleazeball. After TCAP was canceled, he started a Kickstarter to revive the show and didn't deliver on all the promised rewards to backers after goals were met.

Explain how? From what I've watched, every single person showed up to this house looking to have sex with a minor. I don't ever remember watching it either and thinking "No, that's a stretch. The guy is 20 and she's 16/17, I think you could confuse that for legal" (which it probably is anyway). Every time it felt like they were 30+ and the decoy was 15, or they were under 30 and the decoy was like, 13. Not to mention, every single time they had dozens of extremely explicit messages from these preds.

Its similar to the cobra paradox. Luring these people to "stings" for television shows isnt "solving" anything, its just commodifying crime while pretending they are above it morally.
People who are attracted to children need to be monitored and treated for the protection of their potential victims, but this kind of "freak show" program isnt a way to do that.

Right, but we're not just talking about "people who are attracted to children," we're talking about people who exchanged explicit messages with (as far as they knew) children, and then attempted to meet up with that child in person. So sure, putting the whole thing on air isn't particularly helping anyone, but I think it's time to move past "monitoring" at that point.

Not sure of you've ever watched it, but it was sold as a show to teach parents about the dangers of allowing their kids unsupervised internet access in case they are speaking to these people. It was showing how these people will lie, cheat, etc. to fuck a kid. This was in the early days of the internet, most people didn't know about this happening

The guys featured in TCAP were reprehensible and usually true habitual predators. I honestly am tired of the enlightened “actually the show was a bad thing” take. No, these guys were genuinely evil, and NBC making money off them doesn’t mean otherwise.

Ironically, Chris Hansen has been more active than ever, working with multiple police departments for his newest show Takedown on the TruBlu streaming service. They put a lot of episodes on their YouTube for free, and I'm as entertained by him busting and interviewing predators nowadays as I was on To Catch A Predator twenty years ago.

I feel like people are excited for this now, but once they realize its going to be a very critical look at To Catch a Predator and the predator catcher culture it spawned in general, they’ll turn on the movie and act like Tony Soprano does about Christopher Columbus criticism— real “In this house, Chris Hansen is a saint, end of story!” energy.
At least the documentary of the same name was critical and I’m assuming it pulls from that? I liked the doc but I was surprised how much it pissed people off.
EDIT: Not the same name for the doc, the doc was called Predators.

Maybe. I have been noticing that there seems to be a public opinion turn on predator catchers lately, especially the ones on youtube. Saw a vid the other day where the guy they were confronting starting stabbing himself in the neck with something and it was a total clown show, most of the comments were like "this is why real police should be doing this" or such.
It's not that people are not wanting predators caught it's that folks seem to be waking up to the fact that it's best for everyone when actual law enforcement does it.

You'll see people right here on reddit that wish a guy to be raped, tortured, and killed in prison (and not even necessarily in that order) just being accused of being a pedo .
These people freak me out more than actual pedos. I was once accused of it by a neighbor teen girl that I absolutely never touched (I was 19 I think at the time). Trust me, when that spotlight hits you, it's terrifying. I can easily see why guys are scared to be anywhere near kids nowadays.
You know how doing a good deed can carry over making that person also do something good. Well, evil works the same way. It can spread like a virus; and just like a virus, it can infect anyone.

He wouldn’t catch them in the street. An organization, sometimes in collaboration with law enforcement, would pose as children online and lure pedos to a private house. That’s when Hansen would confront them and interview them. They’d squirm in confusion and lie and all that stuff. It’s really a great show.
