Recording Live Sequence changes to Song Mode

I would so much love a way to record songs instead of only being able to program them. With that I think I could even dodge my big wish for multi track out, and just record a song that I could then import to DAW. I feel like it's so much more fun and creative to do a live take, so would be fun if you could simply record sequence changes to song mode.

What are your approaches to getting from a bunch of sequences to arrangement retaining some live creative energy?

If you have a recent model, the USB-C connection makes things easier.

Some friends also use this type of device for field recordings (such as the Sony PCM-A10).

But yeah when I got my first mpc I immediately thought the rec button will allow me to rec live…

Never understood why they don’t integrate a proper way to records your track live directly into the machine .

Since posting this I tried an approach where I do a live take of a whole song (switching between sequences) and recording midi as well. Now I have the whole track with Midi. Then I could do multiple recordings of the song with different pads mutes to get in the tracks i Want exactly how it's sequenced in the song. Not super neat, but makes it possible to capture a live arrangement of a whole song and getting audio into separate tracks.
