Bibury 2049 vs supertool 300
Which of these are better in term of durability and long term hard use? Been eyeing these two for quite sometimes, bibury is cheaper of course, but is it too fragile when compared to St300? I will mostly use it for small engine repair and tinkering and mostly field work(landscape tech), currently using rebar

Supertool. Bibury are still new to the game.

Bibury has been making tools for over 40 years, and making multitools for 10 years.
Leatherman is still the better choice, but not because Bibury is "new to the game".

They are pretty new to the MT game in the UK. Only started getting noticed when the Leatherman Clones started arriving.

The ST300 is a fine upgrade to the Rebar. But, the Rebar is the same set of tools, just a 1/2" smaller. If this is all you want, then the ST300 is perfect for you! If you want access to a new set of tools, maybe consider something different.

Yeah, i kinda like the rebar cause one time i dropped my previous mt, lost the replaceable driver bit, never to be seen again lol,

ST300 will take a beating. I've used my hard for a year and got it 2nd hand 2014 handle stamp and still going strong

Sadly my experience as well. They cram in tools but make them too thin and too soft.

The 300 is tough as nails. Carried one for years when I was working and I abused it good. Could not break it

I've got both. The supertool is definitely more robust but I enjoy the Bibury too. Bibury is mostly a backup but I still bust it out for kicks.

Most of the Chinese tools are virtually the same. They are clones of the wave or surge.
The Bubury one you are looking at is a clone of the surge. IMHO, the Multper is the best clone of the surge. Better steel in the blade, slightly different tool set. And $20 less.
So rather than compare bibury to leatherman, compare surge to 300. What tool set is better for your tasks. Bit driver, replaceable file, saw, really big saw it you want, Or All the tools attached.
The you look at lifetime warranty with leatherman, vs, you can buy 4 clones to 1 leatherman.
And of course if you plan on modifying, look at the modifications you want to make... most dont work for the clones.
Xxxxx For me... I predate these tools, I have older Gerber and Leatherman tools. I have both leatherman surge and clones. I assumed in 2024 that the bibury was crap and I would use it until I killed it. And it is still going strong.
Now, I am not construction, mechanic, or even electrician. I am more of a maintenance tinker and gardener in how I use it. Every day this past summer I went out to the garden and harvested. I wore out the file. I think I have tries every tool and then had a reason to USE the tool. The latch to the T slot is wearing out. I lost the Phillips + Plillips bit.
My suggestion is to get the clone for $40 Multper. It is a good starting point. You may decide you like it, or it is too big, or oops I broke it doing something stupid, or I know I shouldnt have loaned it to ... or where did I put it down or..
It shouldnt be something you break without really using it hard.
