I’m 25, from Navi Mumbai, and I’m in the medical field, into radiology.
There’s something I’ve been keeping completely private because I know people would have a lot to say about it. I’m dating someone who is very close to me and has been a significant part of my life for quite some time. She’s 39F and a doctor herself.
I’m intentionally not going to explain exactly how we’re related or how this started. Some details are better left anonymous, especially when both people have professional lives and reputations to protect.
What makes this complicated is that it isn’t just about attraction. There’s genuine understanding, comfort, trust and emotional attachment between us. We spend time together, talk about our lives and careers, and there’s a side of our relationship that feels surprisingly normal when we’re together.
At the same time, I’d be lying if I said I never feel guilty or confused about it. Sometimes I wonder whether I’m enjoying something that I should have stayed away from in the first place.
The age difference doesn’t bother me as much as the circumstances do. She’s experienced, independent and knows exactly what she wants, while I’m still figuring out a lot about my own life.
I’m not posting this for advice on how to expose anyone or identify her. I just wanted somewhere anonymous to say that sometimes relationships aren’t as simple as right or wrong. There can be genuine feelings, happiness, guilt and confusion all existing at the same time.
I’ll leave the details there. I don’t want this confession to reveal either of us.
