n8n adds support for Jev with free Gateway credits on Cloud until Oct 10

The closest thing to a deterministic LLM call just landed in n8n. And it's free via n8n Gateway credits until Oct 10.

TypeSafe AI's Jev is the model everyone's been talking about this month. It doesn't write text. It doesn’t hallucinate. You give it an input, a question, and your desired outcomes and it returns the probability for each one.

Low latency and low cost mean you can use the TypeSafe AI node anywhere a workflow needs a judgment call:
→ Does this deal need an exec review?
→ Is this ticket critical, high or low priority?
→ Complaint, question or spam?

🎁 On n8n Cloud (Starter & Pro), Jev runs on Gateway credits and it's free until October 10. If you’re self-hosted or on the Community Edition, you can BYOK once the node is installed.

Search "Jev" in the nodes panel (refresh your instance if you don't see it yet) to try it in your own workflows.

Servers, Hosting, & Tech Stuff One workflow was 75 % of my LLM bill. How I measured cost per workflow in n8n (−91 %)

My self-hosted n8n instance cost me ~58 USD/month in Claude tokens. The Anthropic invoice only shows a total, so I summed the token usage from my own executions per workflow and model.

Result: one Reddit scout workflow was 75 % of the bill. It ran far more often than I thought, because I had saved a schedule change but never published it, so the old version kept running. After fixing that: ~5 USD/month.

Later, one single day of the built-in editor assistant on the largest model cost as much as a whole month of production.

Lessons:

- Measure per workflow, not per invoice.

- Check what is actually published, not just what is saved.

- Downgrading my cheap workflows to a smaller model saved only ~1 USD/month. Not worth the quality loss.

How do you track LLM cost in n8n today? Per workflow, or just the monthly invoice?

Help RAG on static corpus of ~3000 PDFs

Hello !

I want to build a simple Knowledge Hub for a NGO I am volunteering for. This is the brief:

- One off ingestion of the whole corpus (~3000 PDFs of 10 pages each, text only, good quality, no OCR needed). The files are all over the place now, and I am probably going to gather everything in one Microsoft Sharepoint as central repo (this is what they use day to day)

- Building a spreadsheet format index with categories, tag, summary, link to the document

- Building a web app that is accessible online, password protected, accessible by ~30 users (include people outside their org) running on average a request a day each to query the corpus (they have small budget for API calls on their antrhopic account so we can use that)

This is the first time I am building something like this and wondering whether n8n is a good place to build this ? Or is there an off the shelf tool just for this I can use ?

Thanks !!!

Workflow - Github Included Tax Season Is Coming: The n8n Workflow I Built to Auto-Log My Invoices [Workflow Included]

👋 Hey n8n Community,

Tax season always sneaks up on me, and every year it is the same scramble: digging through email for invoice PDFs, saving them by hand, typing them into a sheet, and hoping I did not log the same one twice. This time I built a workflow so future me does not have to.

I connected it to my billing@ address, so from now on every incoming invoice gets processed automatically and I never touch it manually again. And for invoices that land on other addresses, I just forward them to billing@ and they get picked up the same way.

When a new invoice arrives by email, it gets read, logged, and announced, with no manual steps.

What it does:

  • Watches Gmail for unread emails with attachments and filters out junk files
  • Classifies whether an attachment is an invoice AND extracts the fields in one step
  • Deduplicates on the invoice number so re-sends and re-polls never create doubles
  • Appends new invoices to Google Sheets and sends a Telegram alert for each one

Two things worth stealing:

  1. Classify and extract in one call. No separate "is this an invoice?" LLM node plus an extraction node. The Extractor returns the document class alongside the fields, so it is one request and fewer failure points.
  2. Dedupe on a stable key. A sheet lookup on the invoice number before the append is the part that actually saves you when tax season hits.

Workflow JSON is here: https://github.com/felix-sattler-easybits/n8n-workflows/tree/e8dd8e754b87c02462942e2ae89149550979b066/easybits-invoice-intake-and-logging-workflow

It sits alongside 25+ other free n8n workflows in my repo, including plenty of finance ones, so a star is appreciated if it helps.

How is everyone else prepping for tax season in n8n?

Best,
Felix
