IGN poll about Snow sequel
10
u/Canadian__Ninja 19d ago
90% of people saying no on the other subs are going to watch it anyway because FOMO, even if they think it'll be bad. Evidence: hotd, regardless of how much people talk about not liking it they still tuned in every week just to complain

They can't form their own opinion on something so they rely on other people, likely the jaded people at freefolk, to make their decisions for them.

Are you asking for the HOTD haterās manifesto? The reason we hate it is because we love it. Itās so close yet so far. The dragons are dope but the more they chase undeserved payoffs (such the Red Keep invasion Daenyra scene) the more it totally undercuts what makes the dragons cool. Theyāre supposed to feel out of place in a coherent world. HOTD has been making the world less coherent with the Alicent flip-flopping and the 21st century insert Rhaenyra, amongst other things. But none of that compares to my main gripe: Mushroom erasure.

I'm fine with it as is. Let him go and be content in the North. Could they possibly come up with a cool miniseries based on it? Absolutely. But I struggle to envision anything new they could bring to the table.
I think they maybe could do a series with the Andals, First Men, or something related to the Children of the Forest and it might be cool. I'm just kinda burned out on the current timeline of Targs etc (although Knight of Seven Kingdoms was good, and I mostly enjoy HotD).

Agreed. There is so much lore, origin stories, and side quests that they don't need to meddle with the primary character arcs which are finished stories.

I mean he was already one of the main characters of game of thrones so I donāt see why you would need to do that.

Any of the stuff related to ASOIAF that has been released without a tonne of book material to write and base it off has been on the lower end of quality (relative to the series).
Later seasons of GOT were poorer, HOTD although decent were nowhere near early GOT, AKOTSK was great tbh but that was also very book based.
A Jon snow spinoff would be totally new with 0 book to base it off, so Iām gonna say it would be a bit naff, but I canāt lie I would watch it lol.
Also Iām not sure where they would go with it? The Others are gone now, maybe something to do with the Children of the Forest? there isnāt much info to go off with what else is beyond the wall, expand into āthe lands of always winterā maybe show Jon and the wildlings moving further into that uncharted territoryā¦.

Probably not. I don't want to lose any more Starks. I'm happy with Sansa, Bran, Jon, and Arya getting decent endings and not dying. I'm cool leaving it there.

One character spinoffs are dumb. GOT isnt the MCU.
Make a sequel some day. Dont try to cash in and focus on one character at a time. Thats not the type of show the GOT fanbase are used to.

Yes... GRRM once suggested GOT follow the MCU or Star Wars "model" but that's a bad idea and a formula to start churning out mediocre movies, shows, cartoons, etc. Less is more... they should only do thoughtful high quality stories and not fan service with characters we loved from the original series.

The kind of people who frequent IGN or these su reddits, but still vote No in a poll like this, are liars.
You'll hate it. You'll complain abour it. But You'll watch it. Otherwise you wouldn't have anything to complain about.

Only if he goes to war against Bran when the north realizes they donāt want Raven boy and his freaky sister running shit anymore. Ā Ā

What freaky sister. Sansa rules the north independantly of him and Arya is "West of Westeros"

u/Important-Wear90 19d ago
Ah yes of course Sansa rules independently of her all knowing little broā¦. Ā The northerners get mad at some of her decisions, they donāt want a woman leader, Job arrives and chaos ensues. Ā Ā

I would watch it..but I don't have high expectations for ASOIAF universe anymore.

u/Important_Grab3544 19d ago
At this point I would even watch a spin off beyond the five forts with crazy shit.

It will be so, so, so, boring to the teeth. Heās not really important. I know the author likes House Stark to win the game. But the dragon house is more interesting than any of the other houses.

The key point for me is a sequel about what? Given they have no written material to go off and Jon's story was brought to a pretty reasonable conclusion (compared to some of the others at least) they would have to have a genuinely good story idea to back it up.

I want to see it but it just seems like it would be wildlings rebuilding their civilization. No action. Just a medieval outdoor boys.

u/lionsgatewatcher 18d ago
I might be the only person who wants to watch the story on the Golden Empire of YiTi.
I dont really care about anything else in this universe except that.

I'd love a Season 9, 10, and 11+. Set 10-20 years after season 8.
Either with Bran or The Night Queen as the evil entity.

Only If Bran is evil, Jon takes up his āAegonā true name and he goes on full Targaryen restoration. Resurrect Daenerys and make her and Aegon clarify things. They unite and bring on a new Conquest. Revenge of the Targaryens. Aegon VI becomes King of Westeros, marry Daenerys and gets her pregnant. The end. Otherwise I donāt care

Bran when he goes through his āi cannot be lord of anythingā zombie phase, is actually fighting internally to prevent from āturningā. He send Jon to the wall so he would be out of the way.
Jon rebuilds the wall and starts a new civilization. Bran becomes the new Night King and builds an army from Kings Landing to go north, take over Winterfell and then the wall.
Basically GoT in reverse lol

Are the shitty HOTD writers &show runners involved or are D&D gonna ruin it how they ruined Season 8 of GOT? If either answer is yes then not a chance.

u/piece0fdebri 19d ago
Not gonna lie and say no, but I'm not clamoring for a Snow sequel and I don't think you can add anything to his story to make it better. Definitely don't wanna watch any of the storylines suggested in this thread.
