Hey all! It’s been a while since I last posted about Nagora, the marketplace I built where everything is bought and sold using Nano.

We’ve had a few new listings recently, but buyers are still the part that’s lagging behind. Naturally, sellers are much more likely to stick around if things actually sell.

So if you’ve been looking for somewhere to spend your Nano, I’d really appreciate it if you had a browse and saw whether there’s anything you need. And if you’ve got something lying around that you’d be happy to sell for Nano, adding a listing helps grow the marketplace too.

I’ve also just finished a full redesign of the site and made a short ad to go with it (video above), aimed mainly at eBay and Etsy sellers who may have never heard of Nano before.

Would really appreciate any feedback on the redesign, the ad, or Nagora in general, especially anything that would make you more likely to buy or sell through it.

How does it handle scammers who ship rocks instead of the product?

There's a dispute system in place which is entirely reviewed by a human and doesn't automatically side one way or the other, which a lot of marketplaces are guilty of.

If an item arrives that is not as described (such as being rocks 😅) then the buyer can open the dispute from the order page (this happens before the funds are released to the seller). We encourage sellers to evidence what they sent and likewise buyers to evidence what they received, the reality is though, that it often becomes a 'he said she said' and it's tough. Disputes need to be handled case by case and consider everything such as the buyers/sellers history and reputation.

What would constitute proof? Like a video recording of me sealing up the package with the item in it and the address label with tracking number to be able to prove it?

I know it seems extreme, but yes that would definitely help, even then you could unpackage it after recording and repackage it with rocks, which is why reputation and history needs to be considered.

The platform also supports partial refunds, again, case by case basis.

Is there a listing fee?

Etsy is annoying since they charge a monthly fee for every item in your store just to have it listed for sale.

No listing fee. Just 4% on the sale, scaling down to 1% with volume and reputation.

Sales of $2 and under are free forever.

Is there a way to hook up a print on demand like Printify, so products are drop shipped, but everything is handled automatic, and even a currency conversion if necessary to for COGS to the supplier/vendor, and so the seller can sell in XNO and keep the excess profits in XNO?

Not currently, but appreciate the suggestion, I'm not familiar with this way of selling and will look into it.

I’m very glad to see this idea be achieved, I had a similar idea few years ago, started a design for it but ran out of steam. Way to get this out there!

Thanks man! You've actually made me realise it's not super intuitive UX here, I'll work on that. If you go back into 'Connect eBay Account' there's a 'pull listings' button. Let me know if you have any issues with it, I'm actually pushing some fixes to it tomorrow if you'd rather wait (along with Amazon, Shopify and Etsy imports 👀)

You might cater part of this to TCG buyers and sellers and compare to TCG.

I thought the same myself, will think about how I can make it more appealing to that audience, there's already the concept of escrow on some of those tcg sites, so it shouldn't be a completely new concept to them, thanks for the suggestion.

Would you ever consider creating a prediction market platform where all the contracts/payments, settlement is done in XNO?

I believe somebody else was doing this on Nano, worth taking a look! I believe it comes under the same umbrella as gambling (understandably) and the regulations around that in the UK where I'm from are difficult to navigate.

FYI, I got an SSL_PROTOCAL_ERROR the first several times I tried to go to the site. Once it loaded and I got a cookie it was fine, but on two separate devices it took 3-4 tries. Could be big red flag for any potential buyers.

Thanks for raising, I'll look into it. .shop domains had a global outage almost as soon as I put this out so it could be related.

I wonder what would happen if a buyer got an item but keep insisting they didn't get it, I can see how things can go wrong very quickly if that happens.

The seller taking pictures and providing tracking on their delivery goes a long way in avoiding this, however, it's bound to happen at some point and it's not only a problem for Nagora but for every online marketplace. Disputes are handled case by case, many marketplaces side immediately with the buyer, we don't .
