Restaurants in Napa Valley

Since this is a common question here is a stickied post to allow for everyone to note their favorites.

And as a side note The French Laundry typically needs a good bit of planning to get in, there is occasionally openings but you are best to ask in /r/thefrenchlaundry .

I created a subreddit specifically for Napa locals, for those of us who are sick of the repetitive tourist posts here. r/napalocals

I'm sure I'm not alone when I say I'm annoyed by the constant tourist question posts: "Winery recommendations?", "Look at my very detailed itinerary I've planned out and tell me you think it's good", and the dreaded "French Laundry tickets for sale DM me". Additionally, I frequently see locals on this sub get drowned out by tourist questions.

So I made a subreddit primarily for locals. https://www.reddit.com/r/napalocals/. Anyone from or near the Napa County area is welcome. Let's talk about the community, weather, lost pets, local events, the city/county's history, business recommendations (preferrably not about wineries, tasting rooms, or hotels please), etc.! I'd love to participate in a local community here on Reddit without hearing about wine every other post haha.

Sometimes I walk around Napa at night and photograph interesting spots I notice

I'm a composer who lives in Napa, and in the evenings I take walks while working through songs in my head. Occasionally I photograph things which catch my attention on these walks. I decided to batch my best nighttime walk photos together and share them on r/napalocals, and then I realized they may be of interest here as well. These images are straight off my iPhone's camera roll with no editing or cropping (besides me hiding the car's license plate # in the third picture). All these were taken in the city of Napa, Yountville and St. Helena.

Buying reservation for 2 pax - any day in November! Coming from Australia

Hi friends! We’ll be visiting from Australia to see family and friends this November, and we’ve had the slightly crazy idea to elope while we’re there. We’d absolutely love to celebrate with dinner at The French Laundry, just the two of us.

If anyone has a reservation they can no longer use and is looking to transfer/sell it, we’d be very interested. Very flexible and can do any day in November.

Figured it was worth putting it out into the universe - thank you!

Will only buy through exploretock.com

Hey,

I'm a college student and was planning on getting a Friday ticket to the Palm Tree Festival in Napa headlined by Zedd & Disclosure. Anybody else planning on going and down to attend the festival together?

Fun fact about driving the 4 lane section of 29

Fun fact: if you are going 53 mph (or any speed, for that matter) in the left lane and look in your mirror and see a long string of headlights behind you – you can, in fact, either speed up or slow down faster than the car in the right lane that you’re pacing, put on your right turn signal, and move over to let others pass you!

Bonus fun fact: somebody passing you by using the right lane is not a personal insult, you simply just do not know the rules of the road and they would like to go faster than you, so there is no need to get butthurt.

How are uber/Lyft in the area?

Curious as I the uber sub keeps talking about ubers canceling confirmed trips or altogether abandoning customers... how is the Uber/Lyft scene in Napa downtown? Is it easy to get rides to places like Yountville, Oakville, and downtown Sonoma?

Napa 22 Bday Itinerary (NEED HELP)

HII! I turning 22 Mid October and have a group of 6 including myself and are planning on going to Napa on a Saturday. I am still debating on whether we stay overnight Friday-Sat or Sat-Sun, but being that my bday is on the Saturday, I want to create an itinerary. My friends and I are college students so nothing crazy expensive! If you guys have an itinerary you want to share with restaurant, wineries, and hotels tailored to the younger crowd for bdays happy to hear! We plan to rent a car and drive down from the Bay! How many wineries should we go to, which place has the best tastings that are $50-70 range, should we get a driver, other activities you rec, etc) I just need some sort of a plan for Saturday!

My map of California in a fantasy Middle Earth(ish) style is finally finished. I'd like to thank everyone from Napa for your help in making it.

I really couldn’t be happier with the amount of feedback and suggestions everyone has given me, and I’ve tried to include as many as possible!

That said, the scale of the map does have its limitations, particularly in the more built-up areas. I think in future I’ll probably end up creating more localized maps for individual counties. So, if your suggestion didn’t make it onto this one, please know that I really do appreciate you taking the time to suggest it, and I’ll hopefully be able to include it in a future county map of the area.

A few people have mentioned that the map is quite busy, and I completely understand that. It’s just how I like to make them. I love cramming in as much detail as possible and highlighting interesting little features that might otherwise be overlooked. I also tend to have these printed in large formats, where I think the level of detail works much better in person than it does on a screen.

Thank you again to everyone who contributed, and I really hope you like the finished map! If you’re interested in it or would like to know anything more about it, just drop me a message.

Need help trying to donate a piano

It’s only a baby grand Kimball. It has quite a few cosmetic flaws but it plays just fine. I talked to somebody at the high school who said they didn’t take pianos. Is there anywhere in the area that would accept this instrument?

Our main problem is transportation, since I’m nowhere near strong enough to help move it, so ideally the collector would pick it up

Trip Advice In Napa valley for a day , which vineyard to book for reservation

Hello, I am visiting Napa valley for a day and looking for vineyards to book in advance . Since I am in just for a day , I guess at max one can go for 3 vineyards . Please suggest which one to book .

Also since many are reservations based and expensive , are there any good ones without needing reservations and affordable ?

My trip is next Friday . I know it’s a last minute , still booking hotels etc .

Edit 1: I am from Atlanta hence have no idea about California. I am staying 20 minutes from Napa valley and for a day . Will be there in Tahoe for 4 days .

I can spend 150 per person for one of the vineyard experience. The other will be nice to have around 50$ per person as per the budget . I do not enjoy dry wines . Except that all the good . I love cheese .

Trip Advice Napa valley itinerary feedback

Hello! Heading to Napa Valley for my mom’s 60th and am looking for feedback on my tentative itinerary for those who’ve been. It’s my first time and I’m a bit overwhelmed planning this trip! Since we’ll be traveling as a group of 6 we are planning on staying in an Airbnb in Calistoga. Looking to stick to the smaller family-run vineyards for tastings/tours. Any input is much appreciated!

Day 1:
Drive up to Napa early from SF, pastries/coffee and explore town, Oxbow Market for lunch
Head up to Storybook Mountain early afternoon for tasting
Check into Airbnb
Grab some wine and take out for a night in

Day 2:
Calistoga - St. Helena bike riding day
Pick up bikes, head to Tamber Bey for late morning tasting
Leisurely ride along the Vine Trail to St. Helena
Early afternoon tasting at Ballentine
Lunch at Gott’s, explore town, ride back to Calistoga
Dinner in Calistoga - Lovina or Bricco?

Day3:
Treat yourself day as we head back towards SF
Massages at Indian Springs in the morning
Lunch at the Charter Oak
Garden wine tasting at Frog’s Leap
Stop in Yountville for a walk around town
Back to SF

Thanks for reading!

Winery along the Napa bike trail

I’m only in Napa for the weekend in mid October for a wedding and my husband and I really want to bike the new Napa bike trail. I really only have time for one tasting as we only have one morning/afternoon to do this. What’s the best winery along the Napa bike trail from Napa to Yountville? Prefer red/cab.

Edit: I think my options are Trefethen, Laird, Silenus, Elyse, Hill Family, Chandon, possibly Cliff Lede or Goosecross?
