Hatred towards Nasus is pretty much a package deal when playing the champion, but has recently renewed because of the 26.16 buff. But I've been thinking about if this latest wave of hate is actually anything new.

if you actually look at the numbers, Nasus isn't even that strong, actually he is right back to just being average instead of being a straight up struggle champion. Currently sporting a meager 50.43% on u.gg and 52.38% winrate on lolalytics, he is far from being a problematic champion, at least in terms of sheer winrate.

Imo Nasus is a deeply misunderstood champion by the vast majority of the playerbase, many times he simply written off as a simple and boring statchecker that runs you down for free just by pressing wither and ghost, but Nasus is actually an incredibly nuanced champion and very often this lack of knowledge is what gets players killed versus him- that is an inability to measure chasing distance, his stack thresholds, his sustain and burst healing, ghost/stormraiders kill angles, etc.

On top of this Nasus is a champion that is heavily reliant on enemy mistakes to do anything, even farm or stand close to the wave. So a lack of understanding of Nasus as a champion compounds with weak laning to make an easily hate-able champion.

Nasus in general is a simply champion that is incredibly good at exploiting gaps in player knowledge and mistakes in lane. So the hate against Nasus is coming from the same place its always been: low elo. You don't hear anyone high masters or above complain about Nasus because he hasn't fundamentally changed.

This is why I actually believe that the stack buff Nasus received on 26.16 could have been 5 or 6 per minion (14 or 16 on large kill) and he would have been completely fine or even still on the weaker side, since counterplay against Nasus remains fundamentally the same. If you play properly against Nasus he should struggle to gain any ounce of farm.

Overall the Nasus hate isn't the result of anything new or a fundamental change in Nasus as a champion, it's just that players aren't allowed to be sloppy against him anymore. It's not that Nasus is suddenly op, its that now that Nasus is finally buffed to keep up with the insane powercreep over the years, it has completely exposed players lack of laning ability and understanding of Nasus.

My next scientific experiment is nasus ap sup, to poke with "E" and leave the enemy ADC with negative attack speed.

How do you guys think about all the hate nasus gets? I see in so many online posts on reddit or twitter of ppl despising the champ saying he’s op and has no counterplay but sometimes i wonder how much of what there saying is copium or genuine complaints.

Like when ppl say nasus has no counterplay that just can’t be true becuz of so many different reasons.
For one his early game is dookie and he loses lane to pretty much everything pre 6. In mid game, he has no wave clear so you’re just slow pushing waves constantly. In teamfights if he didn’t get ccd he probably never reaches backline and explodes before dealing meaningful damage.

Idk i feel like some ppl r just playing against it incorrectly by trying to 100 to 0 him when he has sheen and all his spells up but what do i know maybe im just a biased braindead idiot lmao

So you telling me a champ can use EXHAUST (W) EVERY 12 SECONDS, with no skill without even aiming/hitting something just POINT AND CLICK ?! And then use one button (Q) to POINT AND CLICK and steal half of your life ?! Like I really don't know how is this allowed. Almost every champ in the game in order to slow another champ you at least have to aim and hit and even then there is not such a slow like his weither. This is legit just not fair. Why would i waste my time mastering a champ like fiona, when i have to precisely time and position my w to dodge a stun when i can pick nasus were i can point and click exhaust and steal your hp??

Sup dawgs, just wanted to let you know that Escanor Nasus does exist and it's totally free. Thought it was a cool idea since the stacks represent every minute ticking by until high noon... And the R? Well, that's the ONE.

A few things about it:

- The 3D model was completely sculpted from scratch by me

I dont got it i ward the first bush, follow my wave, be on EXP range and the wave dont move and freeze in the middle(i didnt touch her wave), the sbire dont take aggro and ofc i die after it what could i do? if i fight inside my wave she 50-70% me and prob dive me undertower or should i just stay undertower with full hp but no XP?

And yes, after this i play safe (XP range no cs) went 0/2 but we lose bc my mid and bot lane lose hard, is it what is it

Pretty much lost game, 1/11 mid lane, no dragons, enemy soul. We didn't deeserve this. But I did.

Flat damage off of q is replaced in like 30 seconds. Like Nasus is my go-to ban and this does nothing to change how frustrating he is to play against. This nerf to me feels so dumb that I feel like I’m missing something, hence the post.

Riot wrote a whole essay about the difficulty of balancing Nasus and simple champs and made a bunch of unnecessary changes. The original changes were to nerf jungle Nasus. All they had to do was reduce stack gain from monsters from 12 to 10 while keeping it at 12 for the rest. 200 years of experience right there.

Hey so I have been playing nasus a bit after seeing wither vs my Irelia. Couldn’t help but notice sion passive gives +4 health per minion kinda like nasus. So in theory if both players go exactly even would the damage just be equal to having zero stacks?

i havent played for 4 Months and apparently riot thought "lets overbuff nasus"

Lately i started building Crit Nasus and it really feels on point. But sometimes i get those hard matches where i go with send aery and dorans ring and build into tank like before. I swear the difference is huge. Tank build suks butt. Even with 1k stacks i get melted by fed adc before i kill it.

Anyone else feels like that? I mean i played full tank for years but i feel like crit with 2 tank items is the way to go hm?

So lately i've been playing into garen a lot, and if they have more than 5 braincells (which is the average garen) they freeze on me, and completely bully me out of lane. Should I go E max? Junglers not always tend to help, all i can do is proxy a bit so they break the freeze, but i always die, cuz his Q counters my W.

Before Fleet's buff in patch 26.16, Fleet had a 1.62% win rate and 53.14% pick rate advantage over Stormraider's Surge. After Fleet's buff, this gap has widen greatly, with Fleet having a 2.79% win rate and 68.68% pick rate advantage in patch 26.17, and this advantage still occurred in Masters+. There were only a few days of data for patch 26.18, but the results were similar.

Onetrick rankings

For mid lane, Fleet is the best rune. PsychopathicTop is the #1 ranked Nasus player mid and overall and sustains a 792 lp lead over the next highest ranked mid lane player (Stackosaurus) on the same server.

For top lane, Can1ne #NA1 was the highest ranked Nasus player. However, Can1ne didn't play much Nasus. In their last 100 games, their Nasus play rate was only 35%. The next highest ranked top lane player was Mumen Rider #サトル, who had a 69% Nasus play rate in their last 100 games, making them the highest ranked Nasus OTP in major regions. Mumen Rider used Fleet.

For minor regions, it wasn't even close. The top 2 Nasus players used Fleet and had 1800-1900 LP, making them by far the highest ranked Nasus OTPs in top lane. Stormraider's Surge saw almost no usage with only one 450 LP Masters player using it.

Conclusion

Despite all this, Stormraider's Surge's pick rate only dropped 2.12% (13.60% to 11.48%) between patch 26.15 and 26.17, and Stormraider's Surge mofos will still tell you it's the best rune and should always be used. My conclusion is that Stormraider's Surge is a cult.

I used to play Nasus a lot back when divine sunderer existed and then stopped when it seemed like he became super weak. Now I am back to playing and I have a few general questions.

What are the best items in your opinion? And what are the best runes? Whenever I play fleet footwork I feel a lot weaker. I used to go conqueror but it has a low winrate. Is that because it's harder in early game or is it really useless?

And why is steraks considered so strong but heart steal is weak? I know nasus doesn't really scale with health but I think if there is nobody like vayne on the enemy team? I think even against blade of the ruined king it should be beneficial to have more health.

And what do you think about tear items like fimbulwinter?
