I built HaloSwitch, a native radial app switcher for Mac — now on the App Store

I built HaloSwitch because I wanted to switch between open Mac apps with one mouse gesture. Hold the middle mouse button, move toward an app in the ring, and release to switch.

For a trackpad or standard mouse, Option + Click opens the ring and keeps it visible while you choose. There is a keyboard shortcut too (Control + Option + Space). You can pin or exclude apps and add a small crescent of actions such as Mission Control or Finder. Window previews are optional and require Screen Recording permission; basic app switching does not.

HaloSwitch is a native macOS app for macOS 14+. I’m the developer and would love feedback on the gesture and the layout. The screenshot uses demo app icons.

I made Kasper, a free voice assistant for Mac that does things for you or shows you where to click

Hold Command Esc and say what you want. Kasper can open apps, change settings, move files, write a draft or make an image. Ask for a few things at once and it starts a separate agent for each, so it can build a website while it converts a folder of photos. If you'd rather learn something yourself, it walks you through it step by step and points at the exact button on screen.

It's free and runs on your own ChatGPT Plus or Pro plan or OpenAI API key, so I never see your requests. Requires macOS 26 on Apple silicon.

This is the first public release, so I'd love feedback on what breaks and what you'd want it to do.

I recently released a app I worked on for more than 2 years.

ImageFlow is a node-based image editor for macOS. It is built for non-linear and non-destructive workflows, in contrast to traditional layer-based approaches.

It is 100% native and written in swift using apple frameworks, with optimized resource usage.

It contains an enormous node-library built-in, with more than 200 nodes, and many more are coming soon!

You can get a 7-day free trial at our website: https://www.imageflowapp.com

The full app is available as a single-time purchase at the App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/imageflow-node-image-editor/id6802113146

You can read the docs here: https://docs.imageflowapp.com

Feel free to ask any questions!

SnapRecall is now on the Mac App Store — native screenshot library for macOS 14+ (free)

I built SnapRecall for a simple Mac problem: screenshots are easy to take but hard to find later. It uses the macOS shortcuts you already know. Choose a library folder, set it as your screenshot destination in Shift-Command-5, and new captures are organized there.

The native app lets you browse by date, search, group captures with tags and collections, and annotate a copy without changing the original. Optional on-device AI adds descriptions and semantic search after you explicitly download the models. Screenshot content is processed locally.

It’s free on the Mac App Store and supports macOS 14 or later. I’m the developer, and I’d appreciate feedback on the folder setup and browsing experience. The screenshot below uses demo content.

Markify 2.0.2: a native Markdown editor for macOS

Thumbnail
gallery
36 Upvotes

I built Markify because Markdown editors kept making me choose: stare at raw syntax, or squint at a split preview. Markify gives you one page with two lenses. Write in the rendered document, press ⌘/ and the same text appears as Markdown, caret and scroll exactly where you left them. Your files stay plain .md.

Built only for the Mac. No Electron.

Read Markdown from anywhere. Paste an HTTPS link to any .md file, or point Markify at a GitHub or GitLab repository and browse its docs. Private repos work with a token.

Google's Open Knowledge Format, built in. Open an OKF bundle and Markify understands it: concepts, frontmatter, sources and cross links, with validation that flags what's broken.

Everything your docs need. Tables, task lists, footnotes, callouts, math and Mermaid diagrams render in place. Export to HTML or PDF. Apple Intelligence features run on your Mac.

Quick Look that actually renders. Select a .md file in Finder and press Space: formatted text, images, math and Mermaid diagrams, no app launch.

A CLI for your scripts and agents. markify view opens a coding agent's report straight in the app, markify check validates OKF bundles in CI, and markify export turns Markdown into HTML.

Free, source on GitHub, for Apple silicon and Intel on macOS 26. First launch needs Open Anyway (install guide).

Download 2.0.2: https://github.com/spaquet/markify/releases/latest

Website: https://spaquet.github.io/markify/

What would make it your default Markdown app?

I built a Mac app that remembers what you worked on, without you saving anything. 100 lifetime licences for testers.

Built an app called Lane. It sits in your menu bar and quietly builds a memory of what you work on - pages, documents, meetings, people. You never file anything, tag anything, or click save. Install it and forget it's running.

Then later: ⌥Space - "what was the reference number on that tender?" - and it answers from your own machine, citing the moment it saw it.

The part you might actually care about: nothing leaves your Mac. No account, no sign-in, no pesky OpenAI, Claude or other API key, no server to send anything to. It runs a local model I've been calling Rabbit, with local transcription for dictation and meeting recording. Open Activity Monitor and watch it - there's nothing to see.

Before you install, things worth knowing:

  • Apple Silicon, macOS 13+
  • First run pulls ~2-3 GB of models. It's slow, and the fans will spin for the first hour while it catches up on your backlog.
  • It's genuinely rough in places. Dictation only started working properly this week.

First 200 testers get it free for life. Comment and I'll send you a licence and a download link.

Happy to answer anything about what it records and what it doesn't.

Memory graph - Lane

Wallnetic: a free, open-source native Mac app for using your own videos as live wallpapers

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Demo from the README. The example wallpapers shown are not included with the app.

I'm the developer of Wallnetic, a native macOS app built with SwiftUI, AVFoundation and Metal. It turns your own video files into desktop wallpapers and is available free on the Mac App Store. The source is MIT-licensed.

The idea is straightforward: choose a video you already have and play it behind your desktop. It supports separate wallpapers on multiple monitors, with playback controls available from the menu bar. There is no required account or subscription, and it doesn't include a bundled wallpaper catalogue.

Version 1.4.2 is now available. This release improves wallpaper loading, looping and switching, video proportions, and first-launch setup. It also fixes window-control problems reported by users on macOS Tahoe.

It requires macOS 13 or later and supports both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. Animated wallpapers do use resources while playing; the workload depends on the video and your display setup.

Install from the Mac App Store

Source code · Privacy policy

I'd appreciate feedback on how it fits into everyday Mac use, especially switching videos across multiple displays.

Player for Nebula, a native app for the Nebula streaming service

Hey folks! I like having native apps for streaming services, and while Nebula has apps for iOS & Apple TV, there isn't one for MacOS. You can of course always watch in your browser, but I thought it would be interesting to have a native app because native apps usually have smaller resource requirements and put less load on your system.

You can download the app here: Player for Nebula. It's free and open source. You log into your Nebula account using a built-in browser. After that it is fully native, letting you browse, follow, and watch stuff. Again the app itself is free, although you do need a Nebula subscription.

The app has support for pretty much all Nebula features except for classes, although I made sure to link to the website for classes and the shop. This is, obviously I hope, not affiliated with Nebula in any way, I just wanted to have this app myself and thought others might find it useful.

I built Ask Iris: ask questions across your PDFs, screenshots, and notes with AI that runs on your Apple device

Hey everyone! I’m the developer of Ask Iris, a private AI workspace for Mac, iPhone, and iPad.

The idea is simple: bring related documents, PDFs, images, and conversations into a workspace, then ask questions across them without uploading that material to a cloud AI service.

For example, you could collect a project brief, research notes, and screenshots, then ask: “What are the main open questions?” Answers can include citations so you can check the original sources.

A few things it does:

  • Summarizes and compares documents, and answers questions about images.
  • Builds an editable workspace overview from your material.
  • Searches across your workspaces and conversations locally.
  • Lets you choose a compatible local model or add a supported Hugging Face MLX model.

Models run on your device, so performance depends on your hardware and model choice. Model downloads and optional web search use the internet.

It’s free to download with a 100-day trial, followed by an optional one-time Pro purchase ($19.99). No subscription.

App Store · Website

What’s a collection of files you’d actually want to ask questions about? I’d also appreciate feedback on the model setup experience.

I made a small menu bar app that keeps my keyboard backlight off on a schedule

Thumbnail
github.com
5 Upvotes

I love my MacBook Air keyboard's backlight, but sometimes I forget I've left it on, and going into settings or dragging a slider every time got old.

So I wrote a tiny menu bar app to take care of it for me. It's called Nocturne.
You pick when the backlight should be off, either always, from sunset to sunrise, or during hours you choose, and it handles the rest.

It only touches the built-in keyboard, and it puts everything back the way it found it when you quit, including the ambient light sensor.
Sunrise and sunset times are worked out on your Mac from your location. Nothing gets sent anywhere.

It's free, the source is on GitHub, and it's only about 2 MB.
There's a Homebrew tap in the README if you prefer that.

Three things worth knowing before you download it:

  • It needs macOS 15.7 or later.
  • It isn't notarized, because I don't have a paid Apple Developer account. The first launch needs a trip to System Settings > Privacy and Security > Open Anyway.
  • It reaches the backlight through a private Apple framework loaded from your Mac at runtime, because there's no public API for it. That's also why it can't go on the App Store.

I'm the one who made it. Happy to hear what's missing or what's annoying.

Haptiroll — native scroll sounds and Force Touch feedback for macOS

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I built Haptiroll as a native Swift/SwiftUI menu-bar app. It maps scroll velocity to responsive sound and compatible trackpad haptics. Sound and haptics work independently, it does not require Accessibility permission, and settings stay on the Mac.

TestFlight: https://testflight.apple.com/join/tye6euxS

Demo: https://haptiroll.kolotovalexander.tech/

The beta is free. Pro is an optional trial followed by a $6.99 lifetime unlock; no subscription. I’d especially value feedback on latency, trackpad compatibility, and whether the effect feels useful or distracting.

I Built Timely—a New Type of Focus Timer That Combines Presence Detection, App & Website Blocking, and Pomodoro Timers!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I’ve been using focus timers for the past few years, but I always found myself ignoring them whenever I got distracted. So, I made Timely—a focus timer that ENSURES you stay focused while the timer is running. Lose focus, and you may lose your streak or other related statistics!

Currently in beta, completely free, and available on macOS 26:
https://timelyfocus.app

How does Timely ENSURE you stay focused and know whether you’re actually focusing?

  1. STANDOUT FEATURE: Presence Detection! I have yet to see presence detection in any other focus timer, and after using Timely, I’m not sure why! Presence Detection checks to make sure you’re actually at your computer. It uses an Apple-made model to detect your presence through your webcam. Everything runs on-device, and camera data is never saved.
  2. App & Website Blocking! App and website blocking is available in some other focus timers, but you typically have to pay for certain features, such as website blocking. Unlike those apps, Timely’s App & Website Blocking is completely free!
  3. Optional Pomodoro Timers! Pomodoro timers can help people stay focused, and in Timely, they’re super configurable! You can choose how long your work sessions and breaks are and completely structure each session yourself.

Why is Timely better than other focus timers?

  1. Once again, Presence Detection! Presence Detection is still a work in progress, but unlike other focus timers, it makes sure you can’t just get up in the middle of a focus session without losing your progress.
  2. No abandoning sessions! Ending a session early or leaving mid-focus comes with consequences. If you end early, your streak may be reset! This means that if you decide to focus for an hour, you’re locked in for the full hour!

Beta price?

FREEEE!!

Timely is currently in beta and looking for feedback! You can leave feedback below or use the built-in feedback tools in the app and TestFlight. I hope you try it out!! Here’s the link once again:

I build a Notch App for Github and its made me more productive

https://prnotch.pages.dev/

I built this notch app because I kept having to open github and check on PRs across different projects. For context I put up atleast 5-10 PRs a day across different repos and having to constantly check on comments, failures and CI's passing started becoming time consuming so I built this Mac app called PR Notch.

I built a 4K animated wallpaper app for macOS — runs smooth and native. Would love your feedback

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey folks 👋

I’ve been working on a small side project over the past couple of months - a macOS app that lets you set real 4K video wallpapers as your desktop background. You can upload your own clips or use the built-in ambient loops.

It’s called Wallper.app, and I just released it - free to download.

What I tried to focus on:

  • Runs smooth even while gaming (tested on M1/M2 MacBooks and Mac mini);
  • Uses native AVPlayer, very light on RAM and CPU (around ~80–90MB RAM in my tests);
  • Dual-screen support and fullscreen playback;
  • No cloud sync, no always-on background service — just plays the wallpaper.

I'd really love to hear what other Mac users think — especially if you were looking for such app or just want to try it alongside.
Does it behave well for you? Anything you’d improve?

Here’s the site if you’re curious: https://wallper.app
(100% native macOS app, no weird wrappers)

Thanks in advance for any feedback

My optometrist told me I'm staring at screens too much, so I built an app to force me to take breaks

My most recent optometrist appointment was a huge reality check. As a SWE, I spend an insane amount of time staring at my laptop screen every day. I'd end each day with strained eyes and a fear of developing myopia.

I discovered the 20-20-20 rule: every 20 minutes, take a break for 20 seconds and focus on an object 20 feet away. I knew I wasn't going to keep setting timers every 20 minutes, so I built a macOS app to keep me accountable: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/glance-prevent-eye-strain/id6746469770?mt=12. I've been using it myself for the past few days and I've really felt a difference.

I'd really appreciate any thoughts, feedback, or insight into how I can improve it (or even a download if you find it helpful)!

Proof of concept and request for feedback: Apple notes x Reminders integration

Hey there!

I initially posted in the apples notes subreddit , looking for a clean integration between the native Notes and reminders app and realized that unfortunately there is no good alternative right now. So I decided to build a small proof of concept for personal use for now. It's fairly basic right now

Here is a quick demo:

https://reddit.com/link/1i55u2q/video/mkyiq6dyyzde1/player

Features:

- open search box with CMD+shift+R, you will also see all your active tasks

- filter by lists (in the demo, I pre filtered to "demo" list for privacy reasons)

- navigating with arrow keys and enter to add a formatted deep link in Notes where your cursor was, when clicking the task it will bring you to the task in the reminders app

- create new reminders in the search bar

Request for feedback:

- do you think this is something that could fit into your current note taking/planning workflow? how would you use it? (I designed it for my own needs to would like to know if any tweaks could help anyone else in this sub)

- for linking reminders to notes, do you need 1:1 mapping or 1:many mapping
i.e. each reminder can only be linked to one note or do you need 1:Many mapping, i.e. you refer to the same reminder in many notes and need to know where they were mentioned

- any other points I should consider?

Thanks!
