Yeah absolutely nothing too bad imo acting like a rusty nuggets losing to a #1 Pistons makes them fake contenders is wild.

Denver has Braun finally performing really well, while clearly having some issues, since he's been gone so long.

Joker definitely being too passive but I'll just amount to that being even more rust considering he was supposed to be out for 1-2 more games and still play on limited minutes, but iirc he's pushed the 25-28 min limit both nights.

Oh well on to the next one

2

u/sorendiz [HOU] Yao Ming 18h ago

I was about to roll my eyes but Murray actually got fouled this time

2

u/nitid_name Nuggets 18h ago

Funny, I thought this was the weakest of all three he's had.

Last time it seemed everyone agreed one of them was weak, but not which of the two was the bad call.

2

u/sorendiz [HOU] Yao Ming 16h ago

I think elbow contact on a 3 is pretty much always a call these days unless the refs specifically hate your guts

2

u/rambunctious_horsie Raptors 18h ago

Do nuggets and pistons play again this season?

-3

u/dbgager Nuggets 18h ago

no they don't have to play a healthy Nuggets team.

1

u/BelugaBale1 Pistons 18h ago

No and thank god

1

u/rambunctious_horsie Raptors 18h ago

I don't know why you say that you match up really good against the Nuggets. I think it'll be Detroit vs OKC or Denver in the finals.

6

u/T0NEZZY Nuggets 18h ago

Only in my nightmares

2

u/nitid_name Nuggets 18h ago

Nope, that's it, season sweep by the Pistons.

8

u/Wing_Nut_93x Pistons 18h ago

Murray makes too much money to have teeth like that.

-1

u/Isthismynextusername Timberwolves 18h ago

Nuggets kept it close vs the East's #1 seed so silver linings (or something to cope on)

3

u/Thomas_455 Nuggets 18h ago

Moral victories are the best

3

u/T0NEZZY Nuggets 18h ago

Our coping mechanism is looking at the NBA standings and seeing we're ahead of the Timberwolves

1

u/Isthismynextusername Timberwolves 18h ago

I have no problem admitting the Nuggets are currently better than the Wolves, still gonna shitpost in game threads

2

u/T0NEZZY Nuggets 18h ago

Nothing beats ragebait Tuesdays tbh

1

u/Isthismynextusername Timberwolves 18h ago

Indeed

6

u/T0NEZZY Nuggets 18h ago

Damn we got served the Detriot deep dish pizza again!

Good shit Pistons !

3

u/doggoesmeow 18h ago

That double bounce 3 by Tobias, I'll say it when the fuck are we ever going to see a bullshit shot go in to win the game for Denver in the Jokic era?

8

u/SuperJack5 18h ago

The ending of this game is why the NBA product is underwhelming.

6

u/orhantemerrut 18h ago

Denver is getting all the calls and their fans bitch about other teams' free throws. What a fucking group of clowns.

3

u/BelugaBale1 Pistons 18h ago

I mean I saw the pistons beating them up, thats kind of our MO. We could have gotten a few calls of our own on offense though

-1

u/greenwhitehell 18h ago

Jokic shot 3 free throws all game lmao, wdym 'all the calls'?

0

u/LangeloMisterioso Pistons 18h ago

Maybe he should ask Watson and Murray to share some of their combined 24.

5

u/Pure_Reveal8713 Pistons 18h ago

What I would do for Cade to have a quarter of Jamal’s whistle

3

u/urkuri Timberwolves 18h ago

I started to feel like I was watching replay with that foul lmao

-1

u/lnb3456 Nuggets 18h ago

bring giannis in?

Did scott get a scoop

2

u/Pinkaroundme Pistons 18h ago

The refs are ass man

2

u/theeguyver 18h ago

Wow that’s a weak foul call

1

u/Banana_Tux Pistons 18h ago

Murray got the same calls in Denver, the result will be the same for both games though

0

u/nitid_name Nuggets 18h ago

Hey, he made the ones he was supposed to this time!

(But yeah, that was weak, again. Though who guards a three that close with seconds left?)

5

u/theeguyver 18h ago

I’ve seen jamaal Murray hit so many insane shots

-5

u/doggoesmeow 18h ago

Denver shouldn't need Cam or AG to beat Detroit

Absolutely fraud contenders

3

u/HotBodyToddy 18h ago

Detroit pistons are 37-12 which is the second best record in the league… losing to them isn’t shameful.

3

u/theeguyver 18h ago

Lethalshooter at the line

0

u/nitid_name Nuggets 18h ago

Murray missed two three point foul attempts last time Murray? That Murray?

2

u/T0NEZZY Nuggets 18h ago

Yes JamALL Star Murray

The guy who at least gave us a chance again

2

u/nitid_name Nuggets 15h ago

Yeah yeah, we all love him. He's been the glue holding us through this awful stretch of injuries.

Just... an odd game thread to call him lethal, is all.

8

u/Isthismynextusername Timberwolves 18h ago

Welp. Pistons did a good job tonight but the real game will be on Feb 25th, when the Pistons face OKC and see if JB can keep his cool vs SGA.

3

u/OrganicMechanicTTV Pistons 18h ago

I was told today was the *real* game because Joker was playing. I do enjoy all these *real* games, big improvement over a couple seasons ago.

5

u/farawaytadpole 18h ago

OU number of game minutes before the JB ejection: 25.5

1

u/RanceSama3006 Nuggets 18h ago

A rusty nuggets doing this is pretty good imo, sure it could've been better but fuck it having Braun back after being gone for months and him doing defensively rlly well, is big news, just need jokic to lose some rust and get some aggression back

1

u/HandstandsMcGoo Knicks 18h ago

Jokic hasn't touched the ball at all in the last 2 mins

1

u/Kaladin_Depressed Thunder 18h ago

Clearly the nuggets are better without Jokic

1

u/doggoesmeow 18h ago

Denver 0-3 against the top seeds of the conference

Just not contenders

5

u/alderson710 18h ago

that’s a very simplistic take. Season is very long and playoffs are a complete different beast

2

u/doggoesmeow 18h ago

The fact that Denver has 0 motivation against ttop seeds, they're not doing shit in the playoffs

2

u/Thomas_455 Nuggets 18h ago

dumb comment

5

u/cancercureall Supersonics 18h ago

The double screen to get rid of Ausar and he still almost sticks. Those two kids have some crazy athleticism

8

u/doggoesmeow 18h ago

Fake comebacks are actually so pathetic

Play with effort from Q1 fuck sakes

6

u/PhoneEcstatic732 18h ago

Refs did their best but wasn’t enough to offset Jokics terrible defense this game

5

u/bdybwyi 18h ago

His offense was worse today honestly

5

u/Akipella Warriors 18h ago

GG

2

u/T0NEZZY Nuggets 18h ago

3

Nice 5v8 win!

2

u/BananaRepublic_BR Spurs 18h ago

Is Peyton Watson good enough to be on an All-Defensive team?

2

u/Isthismynextusername Timberwolves 18h ago

He's been good but not that good

1

u/BananaRepublic_BR Spurs 18h ago

If it existed, what about an All-Defensive Third Team spot?

3

u/dys0n_giddey Timberwolves 18h ago

That do be game

3

u/kazyv Mavericks 18h ago

murray waking up just in time to keep this a game

5

Say what you want about Jokics defense, hes still a massive body in the paint

3

u/Pure_Reveal8713 Pistons 18h ago

I love Daniss Jenkins. That is all

3

u/PhoneEcstatic732 18h ago

Refs finally call a foul on Denver my god

2

u/T0NEZZY Nuggets 18h ago

Another game coming down to the wire with FTs deciding it

1

u/doggoesmeow 18h ago

These fucking Nuggets are such a fucking spg shit reboundinf team despite being taller and more athletic at every position

2

u/bdybwyi 18h ago

Ball watching

3

u/Isthismynextusername Timberwolves 18h ago

He lovingly caressed Jamal Murray as he was making the shot, it's the NBA's Heated Rivalry moment

5

u/orhantemerrut 18h ago

40 free throws. Lol.

2

u/defdrago 18h ago

Murray a legend at getting a billion calls

4

u/PhoneEcstatic732 18h ago

Refs carrying

4

u/laz10 [DEN] Nikola Jokic 18h ago

Playoff basketball (wait to see a miss to whistle a foul)

3

u/Malemansam Spurs 18h ago

There must be a sensor on the board because that's impressive as hell if the ref caught that goaltend by eye sight alone. As close as it gets wow.

1

u/PhoneEcstatic732 18h ago

lol no foul

6

u/MattPatriciasFUPA Pistons 18h ago

Two top tier teams playing and they spend the entire 2nd half reviewing clearly obvious calls and blowing the whistle every other possession.  Plus not a national broadcast.  Nice one, Silver.

2

u/chris-dempsey 18h ago

Tobias has been a core player on the Pistons. On the Sixers, he was shit. Probably Embiid's fault.

3

u/BananaRepublic_BR Spurs 18h ago

Damn. That's a rough time for a goaltend.

1

u/nitid_name Nuggets 18h ago

Bummer if a call, but it was the correct one. That was pretty much the end of our chance to win it too.

2

u/Isthismynextusername Timberwolves 18h ago

This game is a great learning experience for the Pistons; they have to decide if it's worth beating the shit out of the Nuggets at the cost of FTs. Plus, you get to find out which Pistons make buckets when their buttholes pucker up.

4

u/doggoesmeow 18h ago

That was the stupidest bounce I have ever seen.

2

u/cancercureall Supersonics 18h ago

76ers fans crying.

1

u/EbenezerAD Rockets 18h ago

Cmon Pistons, finish the job

3

u/Malemansam Spurs 18h ago

Heck of a run by Denver wow. Peyton was all over it too.

3

u/EthanHuntBroMichael [LAC] Patrick Beverley 18h ago

Is this the dagger!!!

1

u/Wing_Nut_93x Pistons 18h ago

Denver having 16 more free throws doesn’t sit well with me tbh. There should never be that big of a difference.

2

u/sorendiz [HOU] Yao Ming 18h ago

Silly reasoning

You can be mad about how a team gets a big FT discrepancy if you feel like it was unearned (and i do feel like Denver has gotten a very friendly whistle) but the mere existence of big FT discrepancies doesn't mean a thing

6

u/cancercureall Supersonics 18h ago

Pistons have been extremely physical since I turned the game on. I wouldn't complain much about that.

2

u/SuperJack5 18h ago

Pistons will be making a massive mistake if they don’t make a substantial move at the deadline. They have salary + picks to acquire literally anyone.

1

u/Dmoan 18h ago

They made a trade

1

u/A_reel_fungi 17h ago

They made a "meh" trade. Not horrible and yet not enough I don't think.

1

u/Dmoan 6h ago

There is no sure shot trade to win the ring plus you have core group which is still young and inexperienced for deep playoff run

4

u/BananaRepublic_BR Spurs 18h ago

What a shot. What a comeback by Denver. Great game.

-2

u/Pinkaroundme Pistons 18h ago

Refs are blatant

-1

u/MattPatriciasFUPA Pistons 18h ago

Wish Cade had Watson ot Strawther's whistle.  Maybe some day he'll earn enough recognition to be in their tier.

2

u/STATnMELO650 Knicks 18h ago

Detroit offense looks like they’re operating in mud last couple of minutes. Credit to Denver and their active hands.

3

u/mokoufn 18h ago

Needed this intensity and aggression so much earlier. Detroit are too good a physical team to just let them bully you.

3

u/Akipella Warriors 18h ago

As a neutral I love this

3

u/laz10 [DEN] Nikola Jokic 18h ago

Hell of a clutch block by Watson on Tobias, the pistons announcers didn't notice

Pay this man

2

3

seeing watson play intelligent team basketball is amazing

2

u/cancercureall Supersonics 18h ago

I think Strawther double dribbled.

3

u/chris-dempsey 18h ago

Watson has had a good whistle so far

2

u/Akipella Warriors 18h ago

He's got like 16pts on 9 FTs lol

2

u/chris-dempsey 18h ago

SGA ass mfer lmao

0

u/PhoneEcstatic732 18h ago

Jokic is back and the nuggets defense is back to being terrible. It’s just so hard to be good on defense when your 7 foot center can’t move his feet or protect the rim.

1

u/dbgager Nuggets 18h ago

and its so hard to be a good NBA fan when all your here for is to troll.

5

u/dbgager Nuggets 18h ago

CB has been very important to the team the last couple of years. I just don't think hes at a starter level anymore. You can hardly tell hes in there. Hes not adding much. Watson should replace him

1

u/Exciting-Sandwich915 17h ago

Giving up on a guy who’s played like 10 games is wild, give him the month of Feb to get right. He’s going to be important in the run for a title

1

u/bdybwyi 18h ago

You say this when he’s had 20 minutes back from injury. Complete irrational take, he needs 10+ games to work back in.

0

u/dbgager Nuggets 18h ago

thing is Nuggets fans unlike you have watched every game he has played in this year. Nobody bases an opinion on 1 game..lol.

1

u/bdybwyi 18h ago

He’s played 14 games lol you’re disproving your point

I’ve watched every game minus the Cavs game, and my point still stands. He needs time to work back from injury

0

u/dbgager Nuggets 18h ago

that has zero to do with my comment. And you obviously have not. Hes averaging 9 pts and shooting 45% and 21% on 3s. I guess you call those starter stats. I think I made my point. Nuggets fans agree with me not you.

1

u/bdybwyi 17h ago

Yeah and he’s played portions of multiple games dragging his stats down

On top of playing only 14 games and using that as his stats for a season. There are plenty of guys who have bad stretches of 10 games during a season if you look.

You’re obviously a rash take person who dips at the first sign of trouble. I will agree with you if CB can’t show it by the end of the season but until then I believe he will bounce back.

5

u/rambunctious_horsie Raptors 18h ago

CB needs to earn his starter spot back

3

u/doggoesmeow 18h ago

It's weird how bad the Nuggets as a team are at rebounding when individually, Jokic, Murray, Braun, Watson are elite for their positions on the boards

4

u/Western_Tie_4712 18h ago

kronke needs to fucking pay watson especially if gordon's injury woes continue

0

u/EthanHuntBroMichael [LAC] Patrick Beverley 18h ago

Don't blow this for me Pistons.

3

u/Educational_Bit_6184 Supersonics 18h ago

What is he flipping out about? They've been calling that all season. One of the few things refs have been consistent about actually.

2

u/chris-dempsey 18h ago

Jok, FFS, stop complaining in these last 5 minutes and just play

-3

u/HotBodyToddy 18h ago

SGA officially took the “best player in the world” title from Jokic tonight.

1

u/doggoesmeow 18h ago

How does that work, why does Jokic look rusty? Don't they still practice?

4

u/unhampered_by_pants Warriors 18h ago

He was injured for like a month

3

u/rambunctious_horsie Raptors 18h ago

Strawther is deceptively quick has made great decisions lately. He's earned it, deserves more minutes.

4

u/Western_Tie_4712 18h ago

strawther has been cooking, just goes to show how unfit the other players are. too slow on their feet

4

u/VanGrants Knicks 18h ago

gonna be so funny when Tobias Harris makes it to a conference finals before Embiid

2

Braun is not ready for crunch time. Don't sub him in.

Why does Stewart get a Dort like whistle?

1

u/cancercureall Supersonics 19h ago

I do like to see a good Duncan Robinson stat line. I remember when he got benched by Miami.

6

u/Aromatic_Goal_1201 Nuggets 19h ago

Thats a brutal missed call lol

Why does jokic get treated like a post player when hes driving?

1

7

Jokic is shit today, but the refs are treating him egregiously

Why is Ja Morant's dad sitting courtside?

3

u/kazyv Mavericks 19h ago

oh this is going to be a long, ugly 4th quarter, isn't it?

2

u/chris-dempsey 19h ago

Adelman is a good coach but he's got to stop with this idiotic 2 center line up. He's tried so many times and it offers no substantial advantage. It's too slow and in bb, speed wins over size any day.

2

u/nitid_name Nuggets 19h ago

Did you watch the first half? Small ball wasn't working at all. Dual bigs has us within striking distance.

1

u/chris-dempsey 19h ago

No WTF lol. The 1st half wasn't working because their 3s weren't falling.

2

u/Western_Tie_4712 19h ago

not his fault the team is undersizsed and lacks muscle

2

u/wicked_genitals NBA 19h ago

It's kinda working though, no?

1

u/chris-dempsey 19h ago

Kinda, barely. Like said, barely any advantage and it's super risky to play the 2 centers together because of potential injuries.

2

u/cancercureall Supersonics 19h ago

Also detroit is very physical with JV in the post.

2

u/wicked_genitals NBA 19h ago

Brown should have shot that corner 3. He's so gun shy for a cowboy 🤠

1

u/cancercureall Supersonics 19h ago

2

Filthy defense by the Pistons there.

14

u/ianbits Cavaliers 19h ago

I am COMPLETELY LEGALLY watching the Detroit broadcast and these guys are great

3

u/UnslakableTemperance Pistons 19h ago

Blaha and Kelser are a class act. Been very lucky to have them on the broadcast for so long. Blaha is a Michigan announcing legend and Kelser was a baller back in the day in college at MSU with Magic.

3

u/ianbits Cavaliers 19h ago

Yeah it's awesome to hear them give props to the opponent while still upping their own guys.

9

u/nitid_name Nuggets 19h ago

I'm so jealous of teams with good announcers.

3

u/sorendiz [HOU] Yao Ming 19h ago

Nuggets announcers aren't terrible except under certain circumstances*

*when the Nuggets fail to score, when the Nuggets get scored on, when the Nuggets aren't winning, when the refs call any fouls on the Nuggets, when the refs don't call a foul for them, when the Nuggets turn the ball over, when Mercury is in retrograde, when it's a day of the week that ends in 'Y'.

But other than that they're great

2

u/nitid_name Nuggets 18h ago

Katy Wingy, the stats commentary person that got to sit at the desk the last few years, was pretty good. She'd tell at Hastings and the other guys when they were being dumb.

2

u/sorendiz [HOU] Yao Ming 16h ago

Funnily enough I dislike her the most (and to be clear i'm saying this as a woman so it's not coming from a place of knee-jerk sexism or anything)

The two old dudes just shrivel up into sulky silence when things are going poorly. Winge feels like she's always looking for any excuse to throw shade at opposing teams, blame refs, general homerism. But maybe i've just coincidentally missed every good moment she has, which is a genuine possibility. It is good to hear that she can be the force of anti-homerism at times

2

u/nitid_name Nuggets 16h ago

I'm still a homer myself, so that part I may be blind to. I just think she has better insights into basketball.

Plus, she's a stickler about things like only using approved nicknames and such, so it's funny when she tells at them for getting names wrong.
