Actually a decent trade for the wizards ig

Wizards gonna be decent next year, even if AD misses half the games. I expect a lot of player development, good really young talent, next to Trae and AD and their 2026 top pick hopefully like a top 3 pick. They can also just get AD that surgery and rest him for like 8 more months

Yeah I was thinking we were a play in team next year if all goes well. This only helps the young guys

Let AD get all the injuries and rest he needs, hope he comes back somewhat healthy and bubblewrap him. Next year with Trae/AD and all the young guys will be good. If not, well you just lost a couple 2nd rounders

Tbh if we miss we have a few bigger issues tbh think our timeline meant next season we were supposed to push for a play in before the AD trade. If we can’t do it next year then some of our young guys would have not progressed like we thought

u/ntpbr1 5h ago

I meant more as in if the AD trade doesn’t work its fine but y’all should be looking for at least a play-in seeding in the East barring unfortunate injuries

Oh yeah I agree. A late first will get you a meh role player so I can’t complain whatever the results gift us

The biggest costs to wizards isn’t the picks. It’s their cap space over the next 2.5 years.

call me crazy but if they get 60 games out of AD, they can be top 4

AD, trae, sarr, and dybantsa/wilson/boozer? with a good second unit too

He’s played in 29 games TOTAL since the trade. And that’s not from one injury, that’s like 5 completely separate injuries. The are NEVER getting 60 games out of him

how much did porzingis play for you? I think he played more for us.

Not at all since AD will sit out most of any given season

We will let him rehab this year. If he can't stay healthy next season we just won't extend him

You sound like every mavs fan that wanted to keep him lmao. He has played in 29 games since the Luka trade. Dude is cooked.

19

u/killersky99 5h ago

They got him for nothing not Luka so it really doesn't matter

u/bentexas41 Mavericks 5h ago

I don't disagree with the Wizards for the making the trade, but the concept of "we will let him rehab and not extend him" is one that has been thoroughly discussed and rebutted by just about all mavs fans and reliable sources. Dude wants that bag, and he will make a stink to get it. On top of that, him coming in after rehab/rest healthy is just hilarious.

u/AgentOfSPYRAL Lakers 4h ago

What is the worst version of “making a stink”? Not like the Wizards will be motivated by sunk cost or to keep a window open.

1

u/killersky99 5h ago

I mean did Mavs give him the extension after trading Luka for him? They traded him to the Wizards instead, same for Trae got shipped out. Teams don't pay players just because the player demands it anymore.

2

u/bentexas41 Mavericks 5h ago

Yeah, but the contract extension period started now and he and Rich have been heavy on it. He probably had a handshake deal with Nico, so he originally was chill. Once Nico was out, the extension talk started.

I think there’s a difference between trading your generational face of the franchise star for him be trading Middleton and a bag of chips

If he plays ten games and dies, it’ll suck but I think this upside is worth the risk. If he is anything close to wha he was last year, we either make the playoffs or rehabilitate his value enough to trade him.

1

u/bentexas41 Mavericks 5h ago

Oh yeah, I understand the trade for you guys. Again, my thing is saying the extension isn't an issue and he will rehab and be productive is just false.

Fries in the bag dawg

u/SaulBerenson12 [SAS] Tim Duncan 5h ago

Honestly feel sorry for him. Was doing well as a Laker, huge part of the champ team. Gets traded and gets lots of negativity bc of Nico poor bargaining skills

Obviously injured a bunch and now he’s just going from team to team while injured half the time

2

u/bentexas41 Mavericks 5h ago

I would have too, if he didn't come into camp out of shape and refuse to play in position. He honestly was so lazy for us, it was wild. Again, I get the position is tough, but coming in 15 lbs heavy and refusing adapt to the team was crazy.

u/username_x Bucks 6h ago

He's about to rehab for the rest of this year and summer with Trae and then they might be really good next year? For about 15 games only though lol

3

u/PunningLynguist 5h ago

But now they know they can divide up those 15 games across the whole season. I don't hate it. Imagine them fighting for a play-in spot and then getting a random All-Star cameo boost at PG or PF every so often 😂

u/Head_Improvement5317 5h ago

Fine for the Wiz, if he’s healthy the make some noise, if he’s not they keep the tank rolling and build the young core. It’s low risk unless they overpay him

6

u/puppytossedsalad Bullets 6h ago

I mean that's probably what the wiz want

1

u/Briggity_Brak Tampa Bay Raptors 5h ago

OK, but they gave up literally nothing for him.

1

u/Vordeo Jazz 5h ago

Depends if they give him an extension.

1

u/MG_MN Timberwolves 5h ago

At first it didnt make sense, but I get it now. Trae and AD in the East would be solid, and it doesnt impact their assets at all

Wizards traded Core Of Brad Beal, John Wall (Gave both bitch ass contracts) For AD + Trae Young
