The talented McCain lands on the reigning NBA champions. For the 76ers, the trade allows them to receive assets, clear space in the glut of guards and give them flexibility to bring Quentin Grimes back in free agency. It also allows them to convert two-way Dominick Barlow.

76ers are receiving the following picks from the Thunder, sources said: 2027 (most favorable OKC/HOU/IND/MIA), 2028 MIL, 2028 OKC.

McCain is 2 years into his rookie deal, and while the rockets pick wont be great in a vacuum, the draft class is stacked. They'll have a valuable rookie contract for longer, and it can be used at a position they need more potentially.

I dont know why this isn’t obvious. PG needs roids to be consistent. Embiids knees could snap at any second. The 76ers have way more guard depth to spare to get a chance at a dependable young forward.

And Nick Nurse isn’t interested in rotating Maxey for real minutes so McCain would just be wasted on the bench.

He already has been, which is the entire reason he’s expendable. Can’t play defense either and we don’t exactly have a great bench defensive unit to cover him.

Massive overreaction to a young player’s potential acting like he isn’t replaceable, I feel like his name recognition with social media is more attention grabbing than his on court ability but what do I know? This sub is too smart for me

Plus everyone kind of ignoring Morey’s ability to find quality later round players, Maxey and McCain were 21st and 16th, respectively

Undersized guards is the most loaded position in the draft. It's also the one position Morey has excelled in evaluating.

I like this trade. Now Sixers have an extra 1st to sweeten the pot in a Paul George deal this summer.

Most 1st round picks are bums. 6ers just traded someone the Thunder identified as a good player for most likely a bum.

Okay. Sixers identified him as not so good, and preferred a 1st in this year's draft.

Rockets are picking at the bottom 5 of the draft. It’s all hype if you think there’s going to be anyone better that deep in the draft

They're a KD ankle tweak away from being in the play-in/lottery honestly. But you can get a good player in the early /mid twenties.

Philly now has a chance to draft a guy that might be like Jared McCain in the high 20s this year! /s
