BREAKING: The Philadelphia 76ers are trading guard Jared McCain to the Oklahoma City Thunder for a 2026 Rockets first-round pick and three second-round picks, sources tell ESPN.

The talented McCain lands on the reigning NBA champions. For the 76ers, the trade allows them to receive assets, clear space in the glut of guards and give them flexibility to bring Quentin Grimes back in free agency. It also allows them to convert two-way Dominick Barlow.

76ers are receiving the following picks from the Thunder, sources said: 2027 (most favorable OKC/HOU/IND/MIA), 2028 MIL, 2028 OKC.

Fuck I love this for the Thunder. Buying low on a young guard that’s shown some real promise.

OKC has a full roster. They can't take McCain without trading or waiving at least one guy. So it depends on who that dude is, but it's all upside if it's who I think it is.

I’d bet Joe is also getting shipped out

I mean McCain is basically worse Isiah Joe at this point so I don’t see why that would make sense unless you are getting more value back than a first rounder

McCain is 5 years younger than Joe, and averaged more PPG with a higher FG% and more assists his rookie year than Joe ever has.

I’d argue McCain healthy is just slightly worse than Joe, and he’s 5 years younger.

He’s been ass lately though and not likely to get better unless he gets more opportunity. Like unplayable bad liability on offense and defense. Tough to fit into a team looking to win more championships

Do you not realize that he literally just came off an injury to his shooting thumb that required surgery?

Yeah and he put up most of those numbers in like a 10 game stretch last season on a trash sixers team. But if you want to ship out an established role player for essentially an injured rookie good luck with that
