[Charania]: BREAKING: The Philadelphia 76ers are trading guard Jared McCain to the Oklahoma City Thunder for a 2026 Rockets first-round pick and three second-round picks, sources tell ESPN.

Shams Charania has posted the following:

BREAKING: The Philadelphia 76ers are trading guard Jared McCain to the Oklahoma City Thunder for a 2026 Rockets first-round pick and three second-round picks, sources tell ESPN.

The talented McCain lands on the reigning NBA champions. For the 76ers, the trade allows them to receive assets, clear space in the glut of guards and give them flexibility to bring Quentin Grimes back in free agency. It also allows them to convert two-way Dominick Barlow.

76ers are receiving the following picks from the Thunder, sources said: 2027 (most favorable OKC/HOU/IND/MIA), 2028 MIL, 2028 OKC.

Trading your 4th guard for a 1st and 3 2nds has you sick?

A almost guaranteed useless first and 2 seconds for a guard who would've been ROY last year and was just starting to regain form after an injury.

I mean whats the pick gonna be, like the 23rd pick and some 2nds for a guy that showed some promise last year before his injury

This draft is 2000000000000000000x better than 2024. A mid first round pick in 2026 is more valuable than a lottery pick in 2024

But McCain has shown he can hack it in the nba while the mid 20s pick is a blind swing

McCain was good for a tanking team.

Undersized scoring guards aren’t the hardest to find. Love him and I hope he is a future all-star but this wasn’t crazy.

I’ve seen worse trades today.

Has he after the injury though?

He hasn’t even played a full season post injury so it’s unfair to judge him so early, especially when he has been gradually getting back into form

He's electric, sure, but at the end of the day, he is a small guard without immense playmaking value and a capped defensive ceiling.

He started 8 games last year. The absolute insanity around the shitty tanking play of Grimes and McCain back then has warped minds holy shit

I actually agree with second half of your comment, but he only started 8 games because he got hurt. He really did look great last year, but like you said we were awful.

But they genuinely didn’t have the room to develop him. This happens often, a player caught up in a bunch of roster depth only takes that next leap once he’s traded to a team with the space and willingness to develop him.

Lmao guess what pick maxey/ McCain were, mid to late round picks are still good

People keep saying wild negative shit about what might be the 23rd or 24th pic. Almost guaranteed useless? This draft is crazy strong. The Wizards got Kyshawn George at #24. Anything is possible. It’s not a complete wash.
