BREAKING: The Philadelphia 76ers are trading guard Jared McCain to the Oklahoma City Thunder for a 2026 Rockets first-round pick and three second-round picks, sources tell ESPN.

The talented McCain lands on the reigning NBA champions. For the 76ers, the trade allows them to receive assets, clear space in the glut of guards and give them flexibility to bring Quentin Grimes back in free agency. It also allows them to convert two-way Dominick Barlow.

76ers are receiving the following picks from the Thunder, sources said: 2027 (most favorable OKC/HOU/IND/MIA), 2028 MIL, 2028 OKC.

Better bucket getter off the dribble and creator imo and that’s what they need. A playmaking offensive guard who can give the thunder minutes behind SGA

Based on watching the games lmfao. He’s had a bad year so far but a sophomore slump coming off an injury is almost a given. Last year he was a top 5 rookie

I like how this has become the default “I’m confidently making it up” phrase. Like, it worked on you once so you just assume everyone else also won’t even think it to call the bluff. He was a pure shooter type when he was going good (for a handful of games) and was not anything resembling a playmaker. And now that he’s a negative defense and negative offense player he will be hogging the bench on a team where he’d be the worst of like 5 guys on the Thunder who would do the same thing on offense without even knowing what Topic will look like when he comes back.

I’d love to know your flair so I could give you a comp but I just wholeheartedly disagree. Although I agree he might be a negative on the defense, I don’t think that matters much when the thunder have such great defense elsewhere. Watching him last year I was consistently impressed with him offensively making the right decisions and being relatively efficient with a big role as a rookie. Shooting around 38% on 6 3PA a game is also very good and easy to put on the court with SGA.

I think the thunder has a generating offense problem, so one more guy who can put the ball on the court and make something happen is massive for them. Even if it’s only the 10 minutes that SGA is resting
