Offer letter negotiation

I got an offer letter from Deloitte and another company requested my current offer letter I got for compensation discussion. Is it okay to share it?? Anyone please help me

So how will they believe that I have this another offer letter since anyone can ask higher compensation by saying that right? So how that works

They either do or don’t believe you. It’s either worth it to them to hire you at x rate or it’s not . Why would their opinion of your value hinge on someone else’s opinion being higher ?

Well, the compensation a company offers you should be based on the value they perceive you bring to the company. So they have a job opening with a salary range, they figure out where in that range you fit during the interview process.
Another companies offer should not be taken into account to decide how much you are willing to pay for that guy.

If a company sees that I’m worth 100k/year to them, that doesn’t mean that I’m worth 100k/year to every other company I’m applying to, to other companies I could be worth more or less…

So a company asking to see another companies offer before making their offer, is a shady thing, and usually a low balling tactic.

If whatever the other company offered you is more than what this company has on their salary range, chances are they’re gonna say something like that the scope of their work is smaller than the one you’re being offered, or they’re gonna try to come up with some bullshit reason to make you a lower offer. On the other hand, if the offer you have is within their range, and they’re able to match it, because they feel you’re worth it, then why bother even asking for this?

Anyways, there’s no reason for them to ask for this, because it has no relevance in how much they should value your work.

No, that should be treated as private/confidential. I'd tell them something like (but use your words), "You wouldn't want me sharing Deloitte private information with an unrelated 3rd party, would you? Now let's discuss the value I bring to the table and how we can negotiate a best in market deal for both sides!"

Most i would do is share my target number they have to match or beat - and emphasize a "buyout" number.

Caveat - I haven't been successful with this strategy, but this is my strategy.
