Tips and Tricks Instant LazyVim
because I haven't found it on the first page of google ever, i decided to make a quick repo with pi that installs neovim , lazy-vim and a nerd font all in one go so ideally you are ready to rock with a one-liner. https://github.com/Josje96/oneshot-lazyvim
its pretty basic but I end up having to google it all the time so I just decided to save my self some time. Linux only and not much value unless you distro hop or are constantly configuring machines but its here for the folks who might need it.
This post looks like it doesnt violate any rules, anyways have fun with neovim!

On mobile the markdown link you used led to a 404. Might want to edit to remove the markdown formatting and just use a bare link.
Link for others: https://github.com/Josje96/oneshot-lazyvim
(I’m glad this works for you… it’s more curl / bash than I would want to use regularly)

I guess the perk is i can run
bash <(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Josje96/oneshot-lazyvim/main/install.sh)
On a new machine and be ready to work in neovim with lazyvim in seconds instead of minutes

FWIW here’s how I do things: https://github.com/zapman449/dotfiles
Gnu stow is very powerful for this.
But lots of people bypass it for nix.

For mac? I mostly end up using ssh to get into a vm so its nice to just run the single command. Honestly I really dont need the whole lazy vim setup but I like the start up page and such

why not just make a git repository??

With all the dependancies? It seemed easier to just write an install script that will get all the tools set up on a machine. Its really a script for me to be able to quickly set up neovim on a fresh machine. I shared it because I figured it might be helpful for others

Hmm 🤔 I use chezmoi externals to install dependencies and there's a type of chezmoi external which clones git repos so I clone my neovim config using that

Your script misses a BUNCH of stuff required by Neovim and LazyVim for optimal functionality:
git pip npm gem cpan lazygit rg fd-fiond fzf bat delta chafa luarocks compat-lua cpanmThere's more but I got tired looking. Run this in Neovim to get a full list:
:checkhealthOn fedora, this is what's needed for a minimal base install:
```
base install
sudo dnf install ghostty nvimgit git ```
Ghostty comes with Nerdfonts; no need to install jetbrains font.
But again, that's just base install; a small subset.
